Bridal Show Scam

Jessica, on November 10, 2017 at 11:35 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 7

I went to a bridal show a couple weeks ago and registered my name and phone number. I got a call last night from a company called NHI International saying I won 2 wedding bands, a trip and toasting glasses. All I have to do is go to the hotel they'll be at for a few days and pick up our winnings .

We did some research on the name and it seems real, but it's similar to a time share.

Sadly you get ppl so excited about important factors that come with weddings with an ity bity fine line at the bottom is pretty much how that felt.

Anyone else experiencing?

It's not fake per say but you do have to go and sit through a promotional event where they demonstrate how to use a set of pots and pans and pressure you to buy them. The purchasing is nto required but its definitely annoying and from what I hear the bands and flutes and cruise are not worth it.

This happened to me too at a lot of the bridal shows I went to - boudoir shoot (but have to spend $$$$ to get the prints), time share presentations, etc. I would suggest creating a new e-mail just for the wedding show and maybe refrain from giving out your phone number? If they really want to reach you, you can sift through the e-mails.

LOL, it's not necessarily a "scam" per se, but it's a way of making you put out money. For bridal shows and baby shows, I would recommend having a separate email that is just for spam.

This has happened to me where they call and you have to sit threw a promotional seminar about cookware and will try to get you to buy the, but you do not have too. It's for an hour and then you will get the items that you had listed. I was lucky enough that the guy conducting the seminar said here is the free stuff you can go home. Please note that the rings you will have to pay for shipping. The champagne flutes you will also have to pay for shipping. The vacation, they give you two options but you have to send them into a place in california and it takes months to hear anything back.

Anything that costs you money is not a prize. If you have to pay for transportation to get to this so called resort or hotel, it's not a prize.

If everyone who attended gets the same call, it's not a prize.

They are making money off the people who attend these presentations, or they wouldn't be doing it.

The exact same thing happened to me. My gut feeling said something wasn't right, so I did some research. Just like everyone else above said, you have to sit through some presentation and all that stuff wasn't worth it. I didn't go; it's not like we missed out on anything for not going.

Yep won a free glam spa day for me and my bride tribe. Turns out it was really a Mary Kay sales pitch
