Bridal shower advice.

Olivia, on May 28, 2019 at 6:06 PM Posted in Registry 0 17
My bridal party is throwing me a shower and they want me to register. My fiance and I already live together in an apartment and after wedding are going to house hunt. What stuff do I put on my registry? Stuff for when we eventually buy a house? I’m stumped

Yes stuff you will eventually need. You can update stuff you have now that you'd like better quality of too.
I had my own house, my fiance lived in an apartment. We actually gifted a bunch of our old things to friends who needed it and got higher quality items like cups and plates

I agree with Kelly. My fiancé and I did the same thing. We both had our own houses so we registered for things we needed or wanted to upgrade.

Why don’t you do a “house fund”? You can just include the link on the invitations and they can donate online through a site like zola.

A shower is for physical gifts so if you don’t want any I would decline the offer of a shower. If you don’t want to register for traditional household things it could be a recipe or stock the bar shower or even a bridal luncheon.

My FH and I have in a fully furnished and stocked apartment as well as a storage unit with all of my stuff from when I moved in with him. We created a registry with items for our future home and are storing them at our parents' house until that time.

If you don't want anything new, you can create a Newlywed Fund to help you finance your future. You can put the money towards your honeymoon, your future home, a day trip to a spa, a date night, or whatever you choose.

Showers are for physical gifts, not cash funds. You can register for upgrades of your existing items like linens and towels or things you could use for a house in the future. If you don’t want physical gifts, decline the offer for a shower.

We are in the same situation, a majority of our stuff is all hand me downs or a cheap set we bought when we first moved in together. We did our registry planning for a house soon and picked out things we know we will need. It consists of A LOT of kitchen stuff (dish set, flatware, cups, fun kitchen tools, etc.) We also did stuff we know we will need new of soon (better vacuum [we have pets], bed sets) and some things we just really like/want (hammock, serving trays, pillows). Hope this helps. Not sure where you would register but we picked bed bath and beyond for a few reasons and idk if you have one close by or how they are, but when we first went to ours we worked with an employee who walked us through the entire process and helped is decide what to put on it and how much to put on it. Hope this helps, good luck.

I seriously had no idea what to register for. When you go on the registry, it will show you everything and just pick what you want!

We are honestly asking for donations for our house because we are planning to buy in August. We live together already and honestly have a lot of nice stuff since I work at a furniture store .

I would register for upgrades or house-related things. Do you have a nice vacuum? A nice set of sheets? Dish set? Pot set? Mixer? Serving utensils? Food processor?

Yes, anything you need that you don't have or anything that might need to refreshed; like linens. The items will also depend on your lifestyle. Do you like to entertain? Are you a wine connoisseur? Foodie? I think you can also register for gift cards on some sites as well.

Woah. A shower is not just for gifts, it’s a celebration. Enjoy your shower! Have fun! My fiancé and I live in Denver and our shower is taking place in PA, in which we plan to move back to PA shortly after our wedding. We decided to ask for gift cards to West Elm, for a new bed and bedroom furniture and Crate and Barrel for dishes and cookware. I would recommend just going to some stores with your fiancé, talk to someone there and look st your options. The people invited to your shower should understand your circumstances.

I asked my friends on FB what they wish they registered for more of and what they wish they hadn't. They said more sheets and towels and day to day glassware and dishes than you think you'll need. They get stained ripped or break over time. Skip real silver and bone or other fancy china, and expensive serveware. Upgrade your coffeemaker, mixer, grill, toaster oven if you use one, vacuum, TV, camera. Some items I just want that I may not buy for myself: upright garment steamer, firepit, outdoor bluetooth speakers, shop vac, canister set, barware, outdoor dishes and serveware, picnic basket with blanket, utility cart, cordless drill, big girl jewelry box, Instantpot.

Bridal shower gifts are gifts just for you. People usually give brides gifts that will spice things up. Your registry for the wedding gifts is for home stuff.
