Bridal Shower Alternatives

Kelley, on October 30, 2019 at 12:48 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 3
Hello! I am hoping to get some advice on my bridal shower. I’m torn between wanting to have one because I’m not a big fan of the traditional games and being the center of attention the whole time. My fiancé and I have lived together for a few years, so we pretty much have what we need and are asking for cash as a wedding gift to go towards buying a house. I like the idea of a co-Ed party, but we live in Virginia, are getting married in Pittsburgh (where I am from and all my family and friends live) and he is from New Jersey, so he wouldn’t have any guy friends in the area to come to the party. Any non-traditional bridal shower ideas welcome! Thanks! ☺️

If you only want cash, I'd skip out on the bridal shower. You could always have a bridal lunch or bridal tea and just not request gifts at all, then it would be more of a social gathering vs. watching you open presents.

If you don’t want gifts then I would skip a shower. Showers are for physical gifts not cash. Agree with pp that a bridal luncheon or tea is fine!

    Hey Kelley!

It's totally fine to forego a shower if it not something that you are interested in having.

Although if you are looking for alternative shower ideas that do not involve gift-giving, you could definitely ask your guests to bring something else for the couple, like a copy their favorite recipe so that you can compile them into a book, or their favorite photograph of the guest with the couple. You can have so much fun with it!
