Bridal Shower and Corona Virus

Mw, on March 13, 2020 at 1:04 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 11
Hey everyone,

My bridal shower is next weekend on the 22nd... should I reschedule? It will just be about 20-30 people. We don’t have many open weekends to do it with everyone’s schedules and a handful of people are coming from out of town

Maybe just make it a point to let them know if they don’t feel good to stay home. I have to reschedule my entire wedding because of this virus 😭

It’s a personal decision, but if you have elderly or immunosuppressed guests, take that into account.

I would still have it, but tell everyone if they feel sick or are concerned because they are more susceptible to stay at home.

I think 20 -30 is fine for a get together if it’s in a large enough space and people can decide for themselves if they wanna come.

I agree with this. If your guests are all younger & healthy, you could still have it and just make sure the venue the shower is at is cleaned thoroughly prior and offer things like hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap for guests. Limit things like buffet-type food where everyone is touching the same plates and food items. Have appropriate seating for everyone. Let anyone who feels sick know you are 100% okay with them not attending.

I'm not a doctor, but 20-30 people is probably fine as long as the room is spacious enough for people to be able to practice social distancing, food is not served buffet style, nobody is traveling from out of town to be there, and you don't have a large number of guests age 60+. If a large number of people have to fly in from out of town, then I would 100% postpone.

My shower is also on the 22nd and I'm a little worried about it but my mom and sister think it will be fine. About 30 people at my mom's house, just my two grandmothers who are in their 80s I am concerned about. Unless anything changes drastically between now and then, I think we will just ask that anyone who may be sick please stay home.

My bachelorette party and bridal shower were both supposed to be next weekend (March 21st and 22nd) too, and after a couple days of deliberation I've decided to postpone both. Most of my 30 or so guests were coming from out of town, and I decided I'd rather wait and celebrate when I won't have to worry about my grandmas or other guests getting sick. I work as a speech pathologist in a school and hospital, and between our school cancelling classes and the hospital discussing new restrictions, I feel the full force of the local precautions being taken (I'm in Kansas City). It's all so unprecedented, and I'm trying to be at peace with the idea of erring on the side of caution (easier said than done!!!) It's such a bummer, and I feel just awful for anybody whose wedding plans have been affected- I can't imagine. Praying that things are on the up and up by May when we get married, and thinking of all of you who are getting married over the next several weeks!

At this point, the best bet might be to postpone. Things are changing very quickly - we've gone from business-as-usual to no major sporting events in a week.

I'm so sorry. This is so hard.
