Bridal Shower Cancellations

Kelsi, on March 19, 2020 at 10:47 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 11
Hi everyone, with all this crazy COVID-19 stuff going on, I’ve been wondering if we should cancel my bridal shower in May. Is anyone else cancelling their May festivities?? I feel so silly to be thinking of things like this when I know people are sick, but it also breaks my heart to not get to celebrate with my family. Any advice on what kind of timeline we should think about in regard to canceling?

I'm not sure how long you think you need to give people. We are trying to decide what to do with our May 23 wedding. It kind of depends on what the government says about gathering sizes. That will be our deciding factor. If you think you can wait a little longer, I would. Just give people a heads up that plans may need to change.

I'm guessing we will have to cancel my shower at the end of April. It's no fun for anyone that's for sure.

I'm hopeful that the gathering ban will be lifted in the 8 weeks they originally said. I think people will still be taking precautions from what has happened. My shower is supposed to be June 6th at a restaurant. I talked to them earlier this week they are hopeful they will re-open by then or even way before then.

Agree with all the PPS. Hold off. There is no harm in waiting a little longer to see if things clear up Smiley smile

My shower is scheduled for May 16th. At this point we have no plans of cancelling it or any other pre-wedding festivities until we re-evaluate the status of the situation as we get closer.

I know it's hard, but give it a week or two. Things are changing so fast, we don't really know what May is going to look like.

That said, there is another thread in here with some fabulous ideas about virtual bridal showers! If the worst happens, you could maybe switch it to all online?

I was just about to post this. Mine is scheduled for April 25th. We currently have a mandatory stay at home order from our local government until April 7. If we have to cancel, we should come up with some ideas and get creative. Unprecedented times can bring something unprecedented right?
