Bridal shower colors

Joelle, on May 21, 2019 at 11:04 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 19
Hi ladies!

The colors of my wedding are white and lavender. Typically, does the bridal shower color theme match the wedding color theme? I was thinking gold and pink for the shower. Any thoughts will be helpful!

Happy planning, everyone ! 😊

Nope. I did request a specific theme for my shower, but they have free reign on colors.

Not always unless you request it from your party. I'm giving my MOH full reign over my shower. We've been friends over half of our lives, she should know what I like by now haha.

It's whatever you want! Sometimes people get too caught up in 'should'. Gold and pink will work so well because there are way more decor items already in those colors.

Whatever makes you happy is what you should go with. Don't stick to trends for your entire wedding. In the end, the importance is celebrating a life changing event, not the colors you used.

Not if you don't want it to. For my SIL's shower we did a boots and bubbly theme. her colors were green and purple, but we wanted the shower to be different.

No reason for them to match. And the hosts giving the shower usually plan a shower's decorations, if any, for the home or other space where the shower is given. If someone has a living room, dining, and family room done in rusts and golds, for example, why would they do anything in a bride's shell pink and lavender? The shower hostesses often do not have a clue what a bride's colors are, if she even bases her decor on colors. The bride has nothing to do with planning a shower.

There was nothing here intended to be rude. When I said that the hostesses often do not even know the bride's color scheme. And that the bride has nothing to do with planning a shower, it wasn't ride. Just that if a shower is being done by a friend, or MOG and aunt, for example, and the bride has nothing to do with the planning, they would possibly or probably not even know what colors you are using. Nothing rude there. Nothing rude in saying the shower decor often reflects the space it is in, where bride's colors may not look good. .. Nothing rude in saying there is no reason for them to match. The 3-5 events or parties of a wedding are all done in different places, planned by different people. And there is no reason - no tradition, no usual thing - of any of them using the same colors. None of these events, including weddings, necessarily uses any particular pair or group of colors. Or each may choose different colors. . . . Take no offense where none is intended.

I think it's fine either way! My mom and bridesmaids decorated for my shower (I had nothing to do with it) and they used our wedding colors. But I don't think it would've mattered if they hadn't!

My wedding is a rustic woods theme with purple and sage for colors and the shower is a beach theme using teals and blues and sand colors.

My colors are navy blue and burgundy and my sister is throwing me (as nerdy as this may sound) a Harry Potter themed bridal shower Smiley smile

The wedding colors do not need to match the shower color. My wedding colors are emerald green and silver but my FMIL is planning my shower and HATES the color green so I'm positive there will be no green at my shower lol

Heck no! Treat each individual party separately. My main color for the wedding is steel blue. For my bridal shower, I went with a more common theme of rose golds and pinks. And the bachelorette, which I have no control over, will most likely be hot pinks, purples, and blacks. Make the most out of getting to style your own parties (you most likely won't get to again unless you're planning your children's birthdays) and go to town on decorating each one of them. This is your moment. Make it whatever you want it to be.
