Bridal Shower Excitement

Katherine, on July 8, 2019 at 10:15 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 16
Okay ladies, my excitement levels are to the brim right now and I just need to share before I bubble over!! Fair warning, this may be a little bit of a long post. Lol

This weekend is my bachelorette party and my bridal shower and I am so dang excited!!!! We decided to do both in the same weekend because 4 out of 5 of my bridesmaid are from out of state, so doing everything in the same weekend was easier for everyone. Saturday we will be going to a local spa for massages, then the pampering will continue with us getting our makeup done to practice looks for the wedding, a BBQ picnic hosted by my parents for dinner, and then the evening will wrap up with going to some local wineries for wine tasting. I am so ready for this girls weekend to begin!

Sunday is my bridal shower, which my mom and sister (matron of honor) offered to throw for
me. I didn’t ask them to have one for me, but they wanted to throw me one. When they first brought it up, my sister asked me if I wanted it to be a surprise or if I wanted to know what was going on. I am normally the kind of person that dislikes surprises because I like to be in control of things and can be a bit impatient (working on all of that though), but I decided I wanted it to be a surprise. Let me tell you ladies, I am so glad that I was open to the idea of it being a surprise because I am so unbelievably excited, like a child on Christmas Eve! I asked my mom tonight if it was normal to be as excited as I am about this weekend and she just laughed and said probably. Lol.

Is anyone else having a bridal shower that is a complete surprise to them? Are you excited or nervous about not knowing what it will be like?

My fsil's and fmil are hosting a shower for me August 10th at 3:30p.m. but that is all I know for that one. One of my friend's from my hometown is also throwing a mini shower for me on July 20th at a local bar we love. I'm so excited because besides the dates and time. I know nothing else. I can't wait. Unfortunately all of my co-workers already told me they can't make it because of how crazy and hectic summer is but I understand. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Your bachelorette party sounds so fun and I'm sure your shower will be amazing. Kick back and enjoy.

My FMIL is throwing a surprise shower this weekend with their side of the family. I was originally nervous because her Pinterest board of ideas she showed me was kinda scary and simply not me at all. She wanted a tacky Hawaiian theme (Honeymoon location) and I don’t mean tacky to be insulting, tacky was part of the theme. Think plastic pink flamingos, grass shirts on trash cans, syringe Jell-O shots, etc. My style is pretty simple and more mimosa bar vs. Jell-O shots.

When I gave a few suggestions that are still Hawaiian but not tacky Hawaiian, I felt like she really listened and there was some help from the fiancé as well. Now I’m only excited and not nervous at all! But knowing my FMIL, there may still be a pink flamingo hanging around just to be funny. Which post my initial moment of shock, would actually be pretty funny.

I hope you have a great shower this weekend and a fabulous time!

I love that you embraced the surprise bridal shower! I can totally relate- although mine isn’t until 12th October so still a while away.
My mother is hosting it with the help of my MOH and I asked her the other day if there is anything I can do to help organise things. But she told me she wants it to be a surprise. So yea I am super excited about it because I love surprises and I think it is so thoughtful of them. I’ve nevr had anyone organise an event specifically for me so I am thrilled about it.
enjoy your weekend! You will have to report back to us Smiley smile

I know when and where the shower will be and helped with the guest list, but other than that, I know nothing haha. Also my cousin (MOH) is planning my bach party and I have no idea what it will be!

Absolutely! And I hope you have an amazing shower in October! 😊 I feel the same way with how thoughtful it is that they are doing this just for me. I’m always the one whose giving and giving to others without asking in return, so this has made me feel super special. Actually, early on in the whole planning process, where my mom, sister, Aunt, and best friend were all really involved, I kept apologizing for every little thing. I felt like “who am I to be asking these people to help me or do this for me” when in all reality they were the ones who were offering to do these things for me because they wanted to be involved. They eventually had to sit me down and say “look, we are helping you because we want to and are excited for you. Stop apologizing and enjoy that this is all about you and how much you are loved!” It was at that point that I was able to really let go and enjoy this whole process so much more with my amazing family 🤗

It is definitely an exciting feeling! I’m an emotional person, so I’m already taking bets on if I’m going to cry when I walk in and see everyone. LOL. That’s great that you had an amazing time at your shower! How much were you involved with the planning of it?

That is awesome! Is your shower coming up soon? I’m sure your cousin knows you well enough to know exactly what you’d want for your bachelorette. Was it your idea or hers to give her full reign on planning the bachelorette party??

My bachelorette weekend and my shower are both semi surprises.

My bachelorette weekend is July 19-21st. I know where we are going but I don't know what we will be doing while there.

My bridal shower is on August 10th. I know the date, time, and place to show up and that's it. My mom, FMIL, and MOH are taking the leads on here and they wont let me know anything! This one is bugging me a little more just because I don't know any details like food, décor, etc and I'm very picky! But they also all know me so well so I don't know what I'm worrying about!

What a wonderful weekend! It will be so fun. I didn't know a lot about my bach or shower, so it was fun doing the games & seeing the food & all that!

How exciting! I can definitely understand because I normally like to be in control of things. What better group of people to take the lead for your shower than you mom, FMIL, and MOH. Enjoy both your bachelorette and your shower!
