bridal shower game question

FutureMrsZottola, on February 5, 2015 at 1:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

I'm making up the games for my cousins bridal shower and one of them is "And the Bride Wore..." where the bride steps out of the room and guests have to answer questions about what she was wearing and what not. I showed the game to a few other bridesmaids and they are thinking we should not include this game in the packet. We have tossed some ideas around but I am not sure if I should just leave the page out and then pass it out when the time comes to play the game or what I should do.... suggestions??

Eh...not a fan of that game. I'm not a fan of bridal shower games in general but do think they need to be done to pass the time. Just don't do the toilet paper dress game! its awful!

The bracelet game is fun and doesn't require much work or effort...choice a "forbidden" word that would be used a lot at the shower (bride, groom, month of the wedding...). Each person is given a bracelet when they arrive and if they use the forbidden word then the person who heard them (busted them) saying it gets to take their bracelet. The person with the most bracelets at the end of the shower wins a prize

Maltese, thanks! I am not a fan of the toilet paper dress one either LOL. We thought about clothes pins or bracelets or necklaces and if anyone says bride they lose theirs but it hasn't been set in stone.

Yeah also not a fan of that game. The taboo game is pretty fun. The other one I like that is more passive is trivia. Have a sheet of questions about the couple that people can fill out before the party is over.

Bridal Shower Bingo is always an easy one....give them blank score cards, let the guests fill in the squares with the items and as the gifts are opened they mark it off. BINGO gets a prize! (I totally always cheat and pull up the registry on my phone)

I'm going to follow this because my sister (32) wants me to come up with game ideas and I hate bridal shower games. I told her no to the toilet paper game and she got extremely upset. More upset than she should be. She wouldn't let go of it so I just kept adding excuses to why I hate it. I said it's a waste of money and she said that if I have that big of a problem with it then she would buy the toilet paper. (Funny, because she doesn't pay her bills. My mom does. And I pay for my mom's bills sometimes so basically it will come back to me anyways). Then I said I just don't like how it wastes toilet paper because you can't re-use it. She finally gave in and said no toilet paper dress game. So I really want to know of any non-sucky games. That bracelet one doesn't sound so bad.

For my shower the theme is "Love is Sweet" so they are doing the "How Sweet it is Game" where you match candy names to wedding related words/phrases. It's kinda silly but they wanted to do it b/c it matches my theme

I played what the bride wore game before but it was at a baby shower, so what did mommy wear. It was semi fun but the whole party got into arguments over what color her dress actually was. It got kind of ugly. She was wearing a teal dress but the judge wouldn't except, blue, turquoise' green etc. And this kept going for all the items she was wearing. I think if you judge leniently it would work fine.

I posted this game on a thread yesterday. Dressing for the honeymoon. Basically someone get a bunch of random clothes together and puts them in a suitcase. The bride is blindfolded and has to dig out clothes and put them on within a time frame. Then she takes off the blindfold to see what she is wearing.

I threw a shower for my cousin and I did a love movie quote game where they had to match the quote to the movie. It got a pretty good reception. I may have made a few a little too hard. But I had 2 people get them all right.

I don't care for that game either. I like bridal trivia and the shoe game however (although that's technically not a game)

What about the What's in your purse game?

You can also get this book for cheap and quiz the guests about the bride.

We are doing "Who has the Groom" where we will put celebrity guys in each one of the thank you card envelopes and in one will be the groom and whoever has him will win a grand prize (gift card, wine, etc.)

There is one where people get clothes pins or safety pins or whatever let's say 3, and every time they notice that someone says "wedding" or "bride" or whatever, they can steal a pin from them and whomever has the most at the end wins.

My theme is Happy Hour Bridal Shower and it's glittery gold and baby pink, so we may do Mardi Gras beads in those colors for this game!

I had a fun one at a recent shower, it was what should bride pack on her honeymoon? There were 30 blanks and whoever matched the most with the bride won. Another game she played was wedding gift bingo (make sure guests have time to fill out the board, pass out well before gift opening begins) and how well do you know the bride and groom. 10 questions from, where are they going on their honeymoon, what was the bride's first job, where did they go on their first date, etc. kinda fun but the bride's mom won obviously... so make sure they are quirky enough questions or bride's family doesn't play haha

For my shower, my MOH emailed both H and I and asked us to answer a list of questions she asked us. Then she scrambled them up and guests had to decide who said each answer.

Another one of my bridesmaids cut out pictures of celebrities from wedding themed movies and pasted their heads onto pictures of wedding gowns, then guests had to name the celebrity and the wedding movie they were in.

I have a GREAT idea! How about you get together with some girls, sit around and visit for 20 minutes, have a lunch, a glass of wine or spiked punch, open presents, have cake/dessert and call it a day! I HATE games at showers! And at the end everybody gets a 1.50 candle, with the money you saved on prizes that nobody really wants. I know i sound negative but i just think the game thing is so lame for both baby and weddings.

Haha Cheapskate that's so funny! I actually know a lot of people who hate games at showers! I went to a shower once with no games and I was like WTH and it was b/c the bride hated games. Smiley smile Our prizes are gift baskets. We are making $10 gift baskets and those will be the prizes for winning games so definitely something nicer than a bottle of lotion or a cheap candle. Those gifts drive me nuts haha
