Bridal Shower Games

Sara, on April 3, 2017 at 8:20 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 32

Name your favorite bridal shower game? MOH asked me to give her a couple of bridal shower games since I didn't want any sexual games at the bridal shower?

There are no good Shower games. They are the worst.

I like the game where everybody mingles, eats, and drinks and then we all go home.

Bingo! I find showers boring when the bride opens gifts but bingo helps pass the time as the gifts get opened (you use gift items as the spots)

UO: There were a bunch of pictures on a poster board of FH and I, and people had to guess how old we were. It was fun because we have been together for about 7 years (through high school and college) so there has been a lot of change! Smiley smile

We played a ring game. Everyone had a big fake engagement ring on and if they said bride or wedding, whoever caught them got to steal their ring.

So we didn't do any games, but we had door prizes and sort of made a game out of that. My mom and I went and made 7 little goodie bags with different things in them (one had bath stuff one had candy etc.) and everyone's name was put in an Easter egg (my moms clever idea) and every so often I broke an egg open with a name in it and they got to pick a prize. Everyone got a favor but these goodie bags went over well with the guests. Other than that they mingled are great food and just enjoyed the day.

I was never a fan of the games. I'd rather just have the guests drink and eat.

    Beer pong?

Don't do more than one shower game. The best showers I've been to just have good food and lots of booze.

At mine, they did one where you had to guess the amount of candy in the jar. Winner got to keep it.

They wrote down an idea for a date night for FH and I. Some of those were funny.

MOH came up with a mad libs. But she made me read them all out loud. There were about 15 of them so I felt like that got boring, but I did it.

Last one, she had us match the Disney movie to the song because I love Disney movies.

I personally really enjoy shower games lol I'm also very competitive so as a guest I always wanna win lol

My fsil had a game called "that's what he said" at her shower. Where we basically interviewed her then fiancé before the shower and asked him a bunch of questions and the guests had to guess how many she would get right lol it was fun

I would have none if I had had it my way.

But unfortunately we had two, one was a jeopardy game with a her, they, and him category and the guests had to answer the questions but I was put on the spot for a couple of the answers (I had to say I love FH in French -insert eye rolling emoji-).

Then the nightmare happened, I have a lot of anxiety being put completely on the spot, like panic attack level anxiety. They had me as the sole participant in this does the bride know her groom game where they called FH before hand and asked him all these really obscure questions. I did okay but it was just a weird thing to be apart of. The bridal shower was completely planned without me by FH's aunts so I had no clue any of the games were coming. I also had to reveal a tube of durex pleasure gel in front of my grandma so that was fun.

TL;DR: Bridal Shower games aren't fun, they are nightmares and nobody should have to go through them.

While I'm not personally a fan of games, the friend who hosted my shower was excited to do them and I was so appreciative that we went with it. One that was actually enjoyable was a quiz about the history behind certain wedding traditions (such as why brides carry bouquets and the origins of men's wedding bands). I liked it because it was interesting without me feeling like I was in a spotlight, and the facts truly were interesting. It did require some brainpower, but we all had a good laugh about it together.

I'm no help. I just realized my last 3 posts were dumb. Not because of difference of opinion but because of what was acceptable in 1989 vs now. I still had open bar and catered meal but other stuff. .... I totally would have done differently had I had WW. Crap. I just said Gma was ok posting bridal gown images because it was her "aha" moment. .... learning...

ETA : I still love games.

My fav game is the tray game. Everyone looks at it for minute and then writes down items they can recall. The most wins.

I hate shower games, but at my shower my sisters did a version of the "newlywed game" which was actually (quick) and fun. They secretly asked FH questions and wrote down his answers before hand, and then asked me the same questions at the shower to see if we had the same answers. It was cute! Everyone had a good laugh at some of the answers
