They haven't registered anywhere and may not (their subtle way of letting people know they'd prefer cash), so she was wondering what people should do about gifts, since that's the whole point of a shower.

Any ideas of gift suggestions?

I think a recipe shower (or something like it) is fine as long as you put something on the invitation like "in lieu of gifts, Future Bride would like a copy of your favorite recipes."

This is exactly why I told FH that we needed to register. He didn't want to register because he doesn't want anyone bringing gifts. I am like that is nice and we can mention it on the invitations that gifts are appreciated but not necessary. My daughter is hosting y bridal shower and people will defiantly look at a registry for that. I would be so embarrassed if a guest thought that I didn't register for the simple fact that I only wanted cash.

I'm having a bridal shower and i'm not registering anywhere... To be honest, I've only been to one bridal shower in my life and she didn't register either.. I own a small cupcake business, so I gifted her with treats for her shower. I don't even know what to register for.

Well they are planning to register, and not just for the shower but in general. I'm wondering now if the recipe idea is still good.

Everyone has told you the recipe idea is awesome! Do it! Lol It would be nice ifnyou made or bought her a nice recipe box to put them all in, and make sure to purchase the kind of recipe cards that says "recipe from the home of......" so she will always know who to give credit to for the yummy recipes. I personally would LOVE that kind of shower!

Haha, no I know the idea is still good, I was moreso wondering about doing both. But okay you've convinced me, lol.

I'm trying to do as much planning and such as I can since I won't actually be at the shower :-(
