Bridal Shower- Not knowing all names

Sarah, on January 26, 2020 at 12:10 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 5
Ok so I searched but haven’t seen this asked yet: My fiancé’s sister will likely be putting together my bridal shower and I just realized that I don’t know for sure all if his Aunt’s names (and he has alot if them). I know it is polite when opening shower gifts to look to the person and thank them after each gift. I’m super worried I’ll open a gift from one if his Aunts and not know who to look to- to thank. Anyone else have this issue?
I think my best bet is to gather pictures and study them so I can associate their names with their face.

Have you met them before? If not, ask your FSIL or FMIL to introduce you to them at the beginning of the shower.

Yeah, if you're close to his mom or sister, I'd enlist their help with some family photos to try and get them all straight -- and maybe they can even help you at the shower with subtle cues about where you want to look. However, if you really haven't met them, I'm sure people will understand if your eye contact isn't immediately directed at the correct person. Good luck!

I have met them several times over a few years but for some reason when I see them i just can’t recall who is who. Honestly, I’m terrible at remembering names in general so I guess I’ll just practice. I probably should’ve done this years ago.

LOL! I do understand.... I come from a HUGE extended family. H and I have been married for nearly 33 years and sometimes he still gets some of my aunts and uncles mixed up! (To be fair, my dad and his FIVE brothers did all look REALLY similar....) You'll do fine. I'd be hard-pressed to believe anyone will be offended if you mix them up. In big families, we mix each other up all the time! Smiley winking Smiley heart
