Bridal Shower Outfits

I'm starting to think about what I'll wear to my bridal showers. I mentioned a new dress (black with floral...it's super cute) to a friend & her reply was "Don't you want to wear white?" Is wearing white typical for the bride to be? What are you wearing/ did wear? Let me see ideas!

It’s common for the bride to be to wear white, but overall it is about your personal preference and comfort. I’ve been to showers where the bride to be hasn’t worn white, or close to it. Wear whatever makes you happy, afterall it is about you! I personally am wearing white just because I like the idea of it and “feeling bridal.” Plus as someone who typically always wears black, this is the first time in my life I’m really wearing white so I’m wearing it any chance I get. 😂 This is my bridal shower dress btw.

Thank you! I just didn't know how typical it was for the bride to be to wear white. Even though I've been to many bridal showers I couldn't remember what they wore. I do wear a lot of black in my every day life. I love any excuse to go shopping! Your dress is beautiful!

I will be wearing white just because I associate white with bridal showers just like with the actual wedding. I’m having 2 showers and I can’t decide if I’m going to wear the same dress to both or get 2 new ones. The first one is already ordered. It’s actually a bridesmaid dress and I’m going to have it shortened.

Same here... having two showers. They happen to be one weekend right after another. I've been debating 2 outfits also. I know I'll be able to tell the difference on which shower by the people & location, but.... I'm going to go shopping for something white. We'll see what I find.

Whatever makes you feel beautiful! I'll probably combine wedding shower with bachelorette party (tame, low-key), so most likely I won't wear white. My theme for the wedding is celestial, so Im looking for a blue dress with stars on it instead. My back-up is a maxi dress.

I've also debated finding a dress in my wedding color(s), navy & sunflowers. That could be an easier outfit to find.

It has never been common to wear white to a shower until recently. I personally think the it takes away from seeing the bride in white on their wedding day. I say wear whatever you feel good in.

I wont be wearing white to the shower. I want something colorful and fun! Plus white will make me look like a ghost! My wedding dress is called vintage and is definitely not white!

I *might* wear white, but I'm not even intending to buy a new dress for my bridal shower, unless I see something super cute that I can wear again, at a good price.

I've got lots of nice sundresses, and I expect mine to be in the early summer, so I'll probably just wear one of my favorites.

Wearing white is a recent fad, not any long term tradition. The only time it is traditional to wear white at all, is the wedding, for first time brides, and that is not required. And if you wear white to a summer shower, know 1-10 guests may be in white too, as it is a common spring/ summer clothing choice. There is no need for a bride to wear white at any of these parties, thus, nothing that says, everyone else can't. I know a few young brides who got the idea to wear white from TV wedding shows, then blew a gasket because half the people at their party were in white, or mostly white. Wear whatever you want to any pre-wedding party, according to the formality or informality of the party. But realize that because some of your friends buy into this fad, does not mean you have to. Like any temporary popular thing, do it if you want to, but there is no " supposed to" , any more than their is a " must wear a blush color wedding dress" just because a lot of wedding designers put it out and it has been popular.

This is totally based on your personal preference Smiley smile What did you end up wearing for your engagement photos? Did you get a white outfit or something colored?

TV shows, movies, and wedding industry ads have pushed buying white dresses for showers, in recent years. But it is not something traditionally done any time but a wedding. Not for showers, not for RD, not for bridal luncheons. So if you want white, wear it. But if you want any other color, wear that, solid or print, any color is fine.
