Bridal shower prize fairness

Shaney, on March 14, 2018 at 2:44 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 12

So, I’m throwing a bridal shower and have 4 games with 4 prizes per game. What is a fair thing to do so the same person doesn’t win all the prizes? I would rather have someone different win each prize. Any ideas?

You really can't control this. If the same person keeps winning maybe just brush it off with a light joke in the moment.

Also, did you mean 4 prizes one per game or do you mean each game will have 4 prizes (which would be a bit odd)?

Yeah, I mean if I won more than one prize I'd probably graciously give one to the runner up of the game, but you can't make adults do this. It's not like they're kids who are going to get mad about it (or shouldn't, at least.)

Hi, I have 4 prizes per game. Most expensive being first then gradual step down. I’ve never done this before so I wasn’t sure if most showers only give one prize per game or more. I was hoping for everyone to walk away with a favor and a prize.

Hi Daria, I would do that as well, but you’re right, you can’t make them. I wonder if I can have less expensive prizes for those that win more then once, so they only receive one “main” prize.

I know I would hand off my second prize to the runner up.

Maybe do a raffle system? Like you get a ticket for winning a game, and a ticket at the door, a ticket for etc. etc. and then do a drawing? Its easier to be like "only one prize!" because then you can just keep drawing.

I think you'll have problems still. What if someone wins a prize as 4th place in the first game but, now wins 1st place in the second game? Will you deny them the "better" first place prize because they've already won? Do you let them win two prizes but, deny someone else who wins two prizes later? This isn't going to go over well.

You either need to not worry about it and just let people play and if they win a bunch they win a bunch. Hopefully, they will be kind and give other guests a shot but, if not oh well everyone should be an adult and I can't imagine anyone throwing a fit or getting upset. Or you can do something like Xandria suggested and give tickets for winning. First place gets 5 tickets, second 3, third place 1, people can also earn tickets by doing certain things throughout the party (give each person 10 tickets when they enter and everytime they say the word bride someone can steal one of their tickets, etc.). At the end of the party have all of the gifts out on the table. Have the person with the most tickets come up and choose their prize, keep going down the line until all of the prizes are gone.

I agree! I actually love Xandria's idea. It's more fair and limits everyone to one win. All the prizes are within a few dollars and are very generous prizes so I would really like everyone to walk away with a win. Thank you so much!!

Does each gave have the same prices? Ideally if someone won a second time they'd say "The runner up can get my prize" because she already has it anyways, and it all gets shifted.

For my shower, we had a combination of team and solo games so that way everyone could win prizes and not just one person per game. Perhaps have some team games?

Hi Elizabeth, they are similar yet different. I think I like the raffle game so that more people walk away with a prize.

Hi Earias, we have one group game. I didn't realize how complicated I was making this for myself lol. I think I'm going with Xandrias idea of the raffle since it gives more people the opportunity to win.
