Bridal Shower Registry

Brittany, on April 7, 2018 at 4:51 PM Posted in Registry 0 7

So my fiancé and I are not registering for our wedding, instead we asked for IKEA gift cards and cash if the guest was willing. I know, tacky and not classy at all but we are moving across the country a few days after our wedding and we don't even have a place yet so we didn't want to have to move all of the gifts we would get with us in our small vehicle.

That being said, I am wanting to register for the bridal shower my mom is throwing me but I don't really know what I should register for (kitchen/bedroom/all)? If I should register at a more personal place like Victoria Secret? How many things I should register for? Or just what I should do in general? Please help!

I'm confused is the bridal shower after the wedding? Won't you gave the same problem with moving the gifts to your new house if it is before? Also you could just set up a PO box in your new town to address the registry to.

There will be substantially less people at the bridal shower then at the wedding, so I figured we could make it work. Plus I didn't feel right about asking more money/gift cards twice. We thought about the PO box but decided that it would be easier (we are also having our wedding out of town with lots of older relatives who aren't the best with technology so they were happy with our decision so they didn't have to travel with a larger gift). But that is a good idea for the bridal shower!

Then your question is what type of thing you should register for? I would encourage you to check out Zola, it has a lot of products to chose from from every category. I would personally find it a bit odd if someone registered at Victorias Secret.

Okay great! Thank you! And that is what I thought too but I had seen a few brides posting about registering there so I was a tad confused!

Unless you live in one of the few areas where most guests bring boxed gifts to a wedding, it’s highly unlikely you’re going to get boxed gifts at your wedding. So the asking for cash is really tacky, because that’s what you’d get anyway.
In most areas, the registry is just for the bridal shower anyway. If it was really impossible for you to take stuff to your new place, you wouldn’t have a shower at all.
So just create a small registry at Amazon or somewhere, register for some stuff for your new home, games, camping gear, whatever, and take the cash grab off your website.
    Or decline the shower.
