Bridal shower, remembering a loved one

Bridget, on May 5, 2021 at 9:23 AM Posted in Parties and Events 1 4
Hey everyone. I am looking for some wording from all you clever people! My sister has passed away. I wanted to include a piece of her at my bridal shower at the end of the month. Her favorite dessert was red velvet anything, so part of the food for my brunch theme shower will be red velvet donuts. I’ve been struggling to come up with some type of simple but nice wording to honor her there. I’ve been trying to think of something cute to write about the red velvet being her favorite but I am terrible with this stuff. I’m hoping that somebody can give me some good ideas on what to do! I know it seems silly, but I would like it now I’m at the red velvet is for her. ❤️ TIA

I'm sorry for your loss. First, I want to ask if the loss was recent and if there will be other people at your party who might need to be consulted/warned about a display (e.g., your mom or siblings). You wouldn't want to blindside anyone with a reminder of recent grief at a celebratory occasion.

Setting that aside, do you happen to have a picture of your sister eating red velvet (or any kind of) cake? That would be fun to display on the dessert table. If your catering display will have labels for the food available, you could add your sister's name to the donut label.

Thank you! And no, the loss is not recent and my mom and other sister are the ones planning my shower! She is just missed extra during this special time and I wanted a way for her to feel as if she is a part of it all. ❤️I love the idea of her eating the cake, however I don’t think I do 😕 I did think about the idea of just adding her name to the label for the donuts! thanks for your ideas and help!!

Even if she's not eating cake in it, displaying your favorite picture of her would be a really nice touch. Smiley heart

I'm so sorry for your loss Bridget. Smiley heart

What if you had a sign that said "*[Names'] Favorite* Red Velvet Doughnuts" or just "Red Velvet Doughnuts" with a note underneath that read "In Honor of [Name]"??
