Bridal shower same day as Bachelorette?

Susan, on January 25, 2020 at 2:31 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 13
Hi there! I'm getting married October 18th, 2020 and trying to schedule my shower and bachelorette party. My MOH is my sister who lives on the west coast, and we live in New Jersey, close to the beach. Since my sister and BIL, who already have to travel out here for the wedding (he is one of the groomsmen), I was thinking of combining my bridal shower and bachelorette into one day, Saturday, August 22nd. My mom and sister are throwing it for me, but for convenience sake I was imagining an early brunch shower, maybe 11-2 or 12-3, followed by a Long Beach Island bar crawl Bachelorette (for those who aren't familiar with the Jersey shore, it's a barrier island with tons of bars and restaurants, as well as shuttles for transportation). One of my bridesmaids lives 10 minutes off of the island and there are usually free shuttles that can take us back there, or worse case scenario we uber. My other sister who is a bridesmaid also lives out of state in Massachusetts so I think it would be easier for her as well. And lastly, two of my good friends are getting married in August and then in September, so we already have other showers and bachelorettes to fit in. Soooo I'm just trying to save everyone time and money! Lol thanks for reading all of this, please let me know if you think that is asking too much or if in reality it would be easier. All my friends coming to the bachelorette afterwards are pretty good at partying as well 😂 thanks again for you input!

I live out of town from everyone. So we are having aBachelorette and bridal shower in the same weekend. The bachelorette will be with the bridal party and the inviting everyone else to bridal shower next day. I’ll be traveling to my family to make it easier

We did this for a friend. I loved it! We did brunch and then headed to a city 2 hours away.

I wanted to do this, but it just didnt work out that way.
I'd say if it's convenient, do it!

We did this for my friend last weekend and it was great! We did the shower from 10-12 Saturday and then drank the rest of the weekend.

My bridal party did something similar. We had the bachelorette party Friday-Saturday and the bridal shower on Sunday. Two of the girls were out of town, so it worked out well.

See, this is what I was thinking! I don't want to have the shower the day after the bachelorette because my friends and I can really party depending on the situation. I'm sure I'm not gonna want to host my older aunts and people like that with the way I'll probably be feeling so I figured the morning of would be better, we can start with mimosas and then keep going. Thanks for your feedback!

That sounds like a good idea! I'm only thinking of having the shower before the party since my friends and I can get kind of wild sometimes 😂 my sisters are the ones who moved away so everyone else who is coming lives here, but that works out since we have LBI 15 minutes away. Thanks for your feedback!

I like this idea as well! So you got a break in between the two at least. Thank you for your feedback!

I'm trying to do something similar as well. 3 of my 5 bridesmaids are from out of state and I'm not looking for everyone to spend tons of money (with traveling and all that is entailed with bridal showers and a bachelorette party. Its looking like I'll have to have 2 bridal showers as it is (my family is 2.5-3 hours north of where my fiance and I live; and the majority of his family is in the general area of where we live). So we were thinking for my bridal shower up north to have it from 11-2 and then it gives us the rest of the day/evening/night to go out and celebrate and whatnot.

I think it's totally fine. I was in a wedding in 2017, and this is what the bride did. Shower at 11 AM - 1 PM. Bachelorette (at a casino overnight about a 30 minute drive away). I couldn't go (I was in college & out of state) but the rest of the girls did. I personally didn't do this, but my bach & shower were in two different states.

Exactly!! I feel like it will definitely save on cost for those traveling. At first my mom was like "won't you be tired?!" But I think that's silly, I probably would've started drinking early on my bachelorette day either way 😜 I think it's a great idea when you have bridesmaids who live out of state! We should both totally do it! 😀

Yes! I would have loved that! I am in NJ too. We did this for one of our friends, we had her shower (in Hoboken) and then went out on the town just the ladies for her BACH. It was a blast!
