Bridal Shower Timing?

Shannon, on March 25, 2021 at 3:24 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 21
Hey Ladies!
My wedding is May 2022 and I live in Michigan. I’ve been thinking about having my bridal shower late august or early September of this year so that it’s still warm and I can dress how I really want to (I hate the cold). Do y’all think it’s way too early or does the timing really matter?
Thanks 💕

So that would be 8-9 months before your wedding. To me, that would be oddly early, especially if the only reason for it were wardbrode choices 🙂

I’d also to keep in mind that, with COVID, what is permissible/advisable (or your guests are comfortable about) may look very different next spring compared to this summer.

Hi Shannon, I think it’s smart to have your bridal shower early during good weather. I think guests will be more comfortable outdoors for a long while. I had my bachelorette party really early (Feb 2020) and thank goodness I did because everything else was affected. If you are able to do it before school opens, I think this will work in your favor too. Hope this helps ❤️

I think you’ll be fine. It might be weird to some but who would want to be cold! You’d get to finish the summer off with a bang!

Like Liz mentioned, that it a bit early for a bridal shower, but I get why you want to have it during warmer weather! We're having one of our showers early because of this!

I'm not sure where you're located, but I noticed your wedding month is May 2022! If you're still worried about it being too early, you can still wait till next April or the end of March to have it, and it should be plenty warm! I'm in Georgia, so we've been in the 70s here, but again, this would depend on where you're located!

I think that is a little early. Is it warm in April in Michigan? If so, I would talk with your host about having it in Mid to late April.

I think it’s way too early. Since your wedding is at the end of May, could you do your shower at the beginning of May? Maybe in April?

I guess this could be a know your crowd thing, but I’ve never attended a shower that was held more than 6 weeks before a wedding. I would definitely be confused to get an invite for a shower 8 months before the wedding.

Honestly, I would do whatever works best for you and whoever is hosting. I'm from NJ and it can be cold and snowy in March and April. I personally wouldn't bat an eye on receiving a shower invite far off from the wedding.

I think it’s early for a shower as that’s essentially when people would be getting save the dates or invites. Weather in Michigan is so unpredictable that I really wouldn’t count on it being good whether it’s September or April. I got married in Michigan I. September and we got soooo lucky that it was a beautiful day, it rained the whole week prior. April could feel like it does today, for all you know! I’d stick with a date closer to the wedding. If you plan for weather in Michigan, you’re likely to be disappointed.

It’s a hit or miss! For the last week and a half we’ve had nice weather here so we could get lucky. I will just play it by ear. Thank you for your feedback 😊

I also thought about that! I am In Michigan so it’s a hit or miss. These last two weeks we’ve had weather in the upper 60s that was lovely so waiting later could work out! Thanks for your feedback!

As a guest, I would be super confused to be invited to a bridal shower 8-9 months before the wedding. I agree with the PPs I think it would be better to have it in late April or early May of 2022: that way you could get the weather you wanted and the timeframe would be more normal.

I would say it's probably a little too early too. The rule of thumb is usually 2-3 months before. Maybe you could go a little later and aim for April? Probably not as warm as you'd like, but better than January-February!
