Bridal shower vs couple shower

My future in laws are wanting to throw my FH & I a couples shower a month or so before our wedding. Since we will be having this shower, is there any reason/need to have a bridal shower also?

I would have one or the other, not both. Considering showers are gift giving occasions, it would come across gift hungry. You can definitely have a girls day (separate from the bachelorette party if you're having one) in place of a bridal shower though!

It depends on your guest list. If they're offering to host a couples shower and someone else is offering to host a bridal shower, there's absolutely nothing gift hungry about having both. People have multiple showers all the time. You would just need to make sure that the guest lists don't overlap besides your bridal party, who I would also tell that you don't expect them to attend and bring gifts to both.

We will probably doing both! We have church and family that wants to throw us a wedding shower, but I know my mom, sister, and aunt want to do a bridal shower with just the girls!
