You use your wedding registry for your shower. So we did Bed Bath and Beyond, Pottery Barn, and Crate & Barrel.

You make a wedding registry. Shower gifts are mostly either household things, or for the bride herself. And traditionally are 1/4 to 1/3 of what people spend on a wedding gift. So choose some less expensive items, suitable for a shower gift price range. And some more expensive ones, likely for a wedding gift, or for 2 or more people to buy together, for a shower or wedding gift. Traditionally, everyone who attends a wedding, and often some others, gives a wedding gift, some a boxed gift, some money ( the person giving g the gift chooses, not you ).
And shower gifts come only from women very close to you, close enough to give an additional second gift on top of a wedding gift. Not for SO of hubby's friend unless close girlfriends of yours. So there are usually a third or less as many shower gifts as well in gifts. And how much a person or couple spends is up to their budget, and how close they feel to you. So it is hard to know how much to register for. And do not register too early. They discontinue many things from registries every few months. So about 4 months before the first showers, is good. And most showers are in the last 4 months before the wedding. People may buy wedding gifts as early as 6 months before the wedding, since they are traditionally shipped to the couple just before, or after a wedding. Rarely brought to a wedding.
When you register for gifts is a good time to buy your first hundred note cards for writing thank you notes. Bla k, or with a design. Because every gift that is sent, you immediately write a thank you note. Do not wait for wedding pics. Though it is nice to put an engagement photo on thank you notes if you like. So when you register, look for stationery. Some will send a gift a week or two after they see a registry. Surprise!

Your wedding registry is the same as your bridal shower registry. We registered at amazon and target!

Our wedding registry was the same one that we used for my bridal shower.

Interesting. In my area shower gifts are not giving in addition to a wedding gift, a shower is held as a chance to give wedding gifts and see the bride open it. My family and I have only ever brought a gift to a wedding if we were not able to attend the shower.

Bridal shower is for the bride, to shower her with gifts so it's totally up to you where you register and what you register for. For example, my bridal shower and wedding theme is candy. So I registered at BB&B for all sorts of baking and candy making stuff. I didn't put anything on there for my fiance. However, when it comes to wedding time, we will add things he wants.

You open your gifts at the shower so unless it's a joint shower, you should only register for things you want.
