You don't plan your own shower, but they typically take place within 3 months of the wedding.

Someone else throws it for you so that would be up to whoever is hosting!
My aunt is throwing my shower in June and our wedding is August.

My wedding is September 5 and my shower is June 14. that's what worked out best for my family since summer is usually a hard time to plan things. There's really no right or wrong whatever works !

It is up to the host of the shower but usually about a month or so before.

It's considered very rude to throw a shower for yourself. If no one offers, you just don't have one.

Our wedding is September 26th and our shower is June 27th. One of my bridesmaids is planning it. I say if you want one and noone else has stepped up to throw it for you, it should be acceptable for you to throw your own.

I've had friends that threw showers themselves for many different reasons. I thought it was perfectly fine, you can go the traditional female only or you could make it a couples thing like an I do bbq type thing.

We’re getting married August 1st. My MOH is planning my bridal shower. I originally wanted it in May or June, but she will be gone most of those months because she is in the military. I didn’t want it in July since my bach party will be that month and too much to do before the wedding. We settled for April 18th which is kind of far in my opinion, 3 months ish before the wedding. But in the end I don’t care, I’m just grateful she’s planning me one.

There is no requirement to have a shower at all. Anyone other than you can offer to host one; it need not be your family or your bridal party. However, if they don't, it's still considered rude to throw a party for people to give you gifts. It's better to skip it entirely.

Mine was 3 months before the wedding! I don't think there's a set time. Just keep in mind you need to have space/somewhere to put all the gifts you will be receiving! FH and I don't have a house yet so all my gifts are stacked up in my room for the next month or two and it's crazy. Probably would've been easier if we waited a little longer to have it, but my mom wanted to throw it before my sister went back to college

My wedding is this month. We had 2 showers last month and 1 shower in December. My work is, also, throwing me a shower next week (a week before the wedding).

My bridal shower is the first week of March, and the wedding is the first week of May. We started planning in January once all of the holiday buzz died down some.

Anywhere between 2-3 months is ideal. This timing is enough space where your guests won't feel like they are buying back-to-back gifts.

We are getting married in March. We are not having a shower because no one offered to host one and it is rude to host our own.
