Bridal shower

Brianna, on March 11, 2023 at 2:38 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 2
Some frustration.

My mom is on me about have a traditional bridal shower and saying I have zero say on how it is planned. My hope was to have it be a jack and Jill to avoid to awkward conversations of hearing my grandparents talk about sex. Am I wrong for feeling upset about wanting to have a jack and Jill wedding shower and those being pushed aside?

You can turn down the offer if you want and it’s typical to consult on a guest list if it’s not a surprise but it’s up to the hosts to set the general parameters. Since showers are traditionally intimate events, I can undetstand them not wanting to invite up to double the numbers.

I don’t know why having men there would prevent your grandparents or anyone else from talking about sex if that’s how they are in public.

You don’t have to do what your mother wants. Trust me from someone with a pushy mom. I didn’t want a bridal shower AT ALL despite my moms pushing and told her that IF I did allow it then it had to be a Jack and Jill for my own anxiety. We didn’t do one bc I didn’t want it. You get the say. If that’s what you want then stand your ground on it
