Bridal shower

Hey!

How does everyone feel about bridal showers? Are they truly necessary? My fiancé and I don’t want to make a registry because we don’t really need anything and tbh we prefer only getting cash at the wedding itself. He has been living on his own for years so he has most of what we would need when we get a house together (We don’t currently live together). Since there’s nothing we need or want item wise and weren’t planning on making a registry, should I not bother having a shower? I feel like there’s no point since they’re generally strictly for gift giving. Does anyone have any thoughts?
