Bridal Showers In NJ

Katie, on December 31, 2015 at 2:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

Hi Everyone! I am a Matron of Honor in a wedding in August. I am trying to plan the bridal shower, but prices have gone up so much in the past year. Does anyone have a recommendation for a location that is inexpensive in the central Jersey (Somerset, Hillsborough, etc.) area? Thank you in advance!

Location for what? (not bridal shower) but like- a party- a private event- gaming? theme?

I mean a bridal shower 'location' without any direction isn't really helpful honestly. Are you looking for just a private room to host it in? because honestly any decent restaurant has that.

What about a shower in someone's home? I don't know what your definition of inexpensive is, but I know that there weren't really any restaurants or locations that my bridal party could afford and liked or even considered. Most restaurants have private rooms or party packages, so I would start by looking at your favorite ones if you don't want to do a home shower.

I agree with seeing about doing it in someones home or at a restaurant. That's the easiest thing.

If you don't want to do that, you could look into the Woods Road firehouse in Hillsborough. It's $525 to rent and includes chairs, tables, and a kitchen. You get 2 hours for set up, 4 hours for the party and 1 hour to breakdown.

The bridal shower could go anyway as far as style. The problem with a house is that the guest list is around 70. I am open to renting a hall and doing catering, but would rather a restaurant where the food is taken care of.

Do you have 70 confirmed or you inviting 70??

because if you're inviting 70- I can almost promise you- you won't have 70 attend.

70 people? Yeah you won't be able to find a restaurant for that many people in Central NJ without having to spend lots of $$ to rent it out.

The Woods road firehouse banquet hall was the cheapest rental we could find in the area, so I would try it. We are doing our RD there as we have to many people for a private room at restaurant.

What is your budget for shower venue and food? We might be able to help narrow it down with a little more information.

Maybe you could come down to South Jersey since the prices seem to be a little lower down here? But I don't have any idea what prices you have been getting because your post is a little vague. ETA: How far South are you willing to go in NJ?

Another option for that number of people is Old York Cellars just west of Hillsborough. They have a gorgeous tasting room that can hold 80. I believe there is a per person fee for tables/chairs/wine and you can bring in any outside catering. We have used Sorianos in Bridgewater for catering for many years. Their food is great and prices are reasonable.

Maggianos in Bridgewater may work as well.

I am more in the camp of using someone's home. that is an awful lot of people for a bridal party, but no judgement here.

We are inviting 72, I am thinking we will end up with 62. It is still a lot of people, so I am trying to keep the cost per person down. I wanted to do Maggianos, but I am on the border of needing two rooms, which means I could have to meet 2 room minimums. ($2400 if I go over 60 people). I was trying to stay under 23.00 a person, that is even pushing it. The last time I threw a shower a year ago it was 17.95 a person (which I can handle). I figured all of you have been to different venue locations or were looking at places so it would be the best way to find places I have not thought of. Thanks! Smiley smile

You know, not every single woman invited to the wedding needs to be invited to the shower....just saying.... that's a lot of money for a BP to absorb.

You can look into Old Stage Tavern in Somerset. I work in Somerset and I really don't know of too many places. I would suggest cutting the guest list. I'm with Celia..you don't need to invite every single woman. If you invite 72, and taking into account they are all invited to the wedding, and most of them will have a SO, that's 150 people at the wedding, which is a good sized wedding. How many guests are actually invited to the wedding? The shower should be close friends and family.

ETA: I googled Rod's Old Tavern, and it says that's in Sea Girt, and that is probably an hourish to the area she is looking for.

If you wanted to extend your search to the Edison area. LouCas is great, and my friend recently had a baby shower at Dominic's in Avenel, and it was very nice.

I actually threw my sisters bridal shower at the stagehouse tavern in somerset and it was great. It was 17.95 a person a year and a half ago.

I appreciate all of the comments about cutting the number down. I felt like that was the route to go, but I have never had anyone with such a high number on the bridal shower guest list before. This is my third bridal shower to be a part of in the past 2 years and the number seemed a little outrageous. They are inviting 220 to the wedding.

I am going to look into LouCas and Dominic's thank you for the suggestions.
