Bride makeup and hair

Sheila, on July 27, 2019 at 7:00 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 7
If I am getting married at 4:30, by what time a bride should be done with hair and makeup?

It depends on your photography needs. Do you want "getting ready" photos? Are you planning to do a first look? If not, are you planning on getting bridal portraits, bridal party and VIP pictures done before the ceremony? How much time will you have after the ceremony before the reception? These are questions you should discuss with your photographer. But, to give you an idea, we did a first look and got married at 3 p.m. - here was our timeline:

9-12:30 bride and bridal party get ready in the bridal suite (I was last); breakfast and lunch served

12:30-1 photographer arrived to take detail shots and "getting ready" shots (these are staged so you should have your hair and makeup done at this point)

    1-1:30 first look

1:30-2:45 wedding party and VIP pics

    3 ceremony

As you can see, my hair and makeup were done by 12:30 before my 3 p.m. ceremony.

I would say talk to your makeup artist and hairstylist. Mine need at least 2 hours for me and then another 2 for my maid of honor. But they will be rotating us so 2 hours total. And you want to get to your venue at least an hour early to do a final walk through and then get into your dress. This is what I am doing. But again talk to the hairstylist and mua to see their time frame

My church is at 2:30 and the photographer recommended i be ready by 12:30 with hair and makeup so it give him 1.5 hours to take pictures prior to church

Usually depends on photos. Our ceremony is at 5:30 but my photographer needs me ready by 3.

It depends on the amount of portraits you want done before the ceremony and if you want to have a "first look".
Getting bridal party and family formals done prior to the ceremony, will make the after ceremony picture session much less hectic. It will also reduce or eliminate cocktail hour.
We are getting married at 5:15pm

I will be dressed and done by 2pm
We will then have all portaits and first look done by 4:30 and will be back inside out of sight for arriving guests.

Agreed with the above, and I'd recommend trying to rough out your own timeline. If you're doing a first look and photos before the ceremony, talk to your photographer to see how long she'll need. Give everyone time to grab some food and get dressed before the photos, make sure to account for travel times, and that should tell you when you need to be done with hair and makeup.
