Bride to go to Tux fitting?

Private User, on July 2, 2012 at 4:53 PM Posted in Planning 2 31

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to know if the bride is supposed to go to the tux fitting? To choose colors and what not. Let me know opinions. Thanks!

I think you can cause you know sometimes we are best with color coordination....lol...but as far as the actual fitting you shouldn't need to because it's just measurements.

It might be a good idea! I have an ivory theme instead of white and fh wouldn't know what to do with the colors.

I'm going with FH to pick out the tux, and to his fitting. The first trip is to pick it out (i love him, but it's our wedding. i need to dress him. LOL!) Besides, he didn't really pay attention when i showed him the BM dresses, so i want to make sure they won't clash. The second trip is mostly just because it is kind of a far drive, so i'm going to keep him company Smiley smile

I am just to make sure things go smoothly. And so they don't sucker FH into worthless things.

I didn't go but They had a swatch of the color and showed him pictures of what I wanted my dad to wear... I'm sure that my honey handled it .... I asked him later what they got and seems right to me! Seriously as long as they got the right color thats all I care about.

I really think it's up to you. I will not be going. I have given FH full reign over the tuxes. My theory is that if I can pick the BM dresses and he doesn't have a say in MY dress or get to see it, then I'm not going to dictate his choices for himself and his groomsmen. When it comes to formal wear, he has really sharp taste, so I'm not worried.

If you think, however, that he may not feel comfortable choosing colors or materials to match, then if he doesn't mind, by all means go with him.

I'm giving him full control over the tuxes, because he knows what he wants, but we have discussed what colors he needs to get and the combinations I would like to see.

I went with my H and thank goodness I did. They were trying to convince him to rent the "proper" (and more expensive) tux shirt. Well, it turns out it was 100% super plastic polyester. It was hot, scratchy, and awful. Because H never wears poly, he just couldn't figure out what was bothering him. Plus, he likes getting my opinion on his clothes. So I went, not because of colors or control.

I went, the woman making his appointment actually requested that I go with him, we picked his tux out, and if he would have gone alone I can only imagine, lol, he wouldn't have known what colours for to do and he would have picked the most expensive tux for the groomsmen. My FH isn't very good at wedding stuff as he doesn't have a "vision" for what the day will be like

I gave FH a swatch and sent him on his own like a big boy. This lead to me calling and straightening everything out and him going back with two GM to pick because his 1st choice was $200 tuxes. Lol. So I say YES go with him, itll save you the aggravation later.

DH and I went together to pick out the tuxes and to set up the group reservation. He went back a couple weeks later with all of his guys to get fitted, then they went out to lunch Smiley smile

I went with fiancee. He was afraid he would get the wrong blue so just to be safe I went and it was fun actually. When I saw him in the just a random black tux jacket it just got me even more excited that this was for real.

We went together--although I think the guy at the store was more help than me! We decided to buy suits and they were having a sale. If you get a good guy (or gal) at Men's wearhouse, they are a lifesaver! They had a whole table with ties, shirts, with our colors to help us pick. I took a swatch of my dress just to help. It was fun! (And his alterations were sure cheaper than mine!! LOL)

My fiancé and I have decided that we will not see each others' wedding day apparel until I walk down the aisle. I've already told him what our colors are and who needs to wear what, but other than that, he's got great style so I'm fine with him picking out whatever as long as the colors are right.
