bride to groom gift

Candace523, on December 11, 2008 at 2:59 PM Posted in Married Life 0 36

I was wondering if anybody had any ideas for a bride to groom gift for my hubby to be. We have been together for 6 years and it seems that i have given him everything i can think of. He collects knives and swords, & i have given him so many of them, along with many pocket watches & tools. We are going to Italy for our honeymoon and he is really looking forward to it b/c he has always wanted to go to Rome, & we are leaving that night, so i cant get a suite to stay in our first night. I just have no where to go. One thing i am doing is i have kept a diary, so to speak, of things we have done together, including updates of the wedding planning, and how our house we are building together is coming along. I've kept up with it since he proposed, so it will be a years worth of info. I plan on giving this to him as part of the wedding gift. I would just like something else to give him.....any ideas? Preferably not expensive and useful.

I am having the same problem as you girl I don't know what to do either! Ha, I did almost the same thing you did. I have all of the love notes and cards, etc that I ever written him put together all in one scrap book w/a few diary like letters that I have written to him since we have been engaged that he hasn't read yet, I also want to get him something else. I am thinking about getting him some nice cufflinks engraved with his initials. You can find some really nice ones that are not that expensive. Its something personable and will have meaning when he wears them again for special occasions like your anniversary. Other ideas that I thought of is a nice watch, you can get those engraved too, what something that reflects his family history? Like my friends just got married and the bride bought her husband an italian horn necklace. He loves it!! Are you guys writing your own vows? if so you can write them out and frame them for him to give on your wedding nite. Hope this helps.

Well, we both have all the letters we wrote to each other over the years and i could put them in a scrap book but he would notice them missing....We thought about getting our GM ingraved cufflinks as part of their gift, and we were going to ge my fiance a set also, so he already knows about it, and he is in charge of getting the guys the cufflinks, as i am in charge to get the girls necklaces. Great idea though......i am familar with things remembered, we actually go there a lot, they are the ones who actually engraved out wedding flutes, and his watches in the past. Thanks for the ideas so far...

How about a nice case (shelving with a glass door) to display those previous treasures you bought him. Something with a lock would be nice to protect the children when they come along, too.

    Hi Candace

For the less shy boudoir albums have been very popular with my clients. Just some cute and cheeky photos is a gift he will not be forgetting.

Congratulations on all of the wonderful things happening for you this year.

    All my best

    Hi Candace:

    Congratulations on your engagement!!

How about something functional? You mentioned that you are building a home. If your hubby to be is a BBQ or golf man, we have a BBQ Set with Golf handles all packaged in a gift bag. Could this be something that is right up his alley as well as ties in with the new home?

Just remember to give him the benefit of the doubt for the next fifty years. That will go much further than any gift.

My FH loves watches and I am buying him a watch with his family crest on it. We are having a traditional wedding with Renaissance touches because he doesn't want just a Renaissance wedding. Though, this watch will fit in well as well as be meaningful to him. Best of Wishes!!!

Well, all the pretty engraved things are nice, but I went a different way. I went to customizedgirl.com and personalized a t-shirt for him front and back and then did ones for him to give to his groomsmen as his gift to them so they can be a little wedding posse or something. I thought that it would be a good stress reliever to give him a funny t-shirt that I made especially for him. Check out what I did here.

You can make them funny or sweet and put whatever graphic you want on it. I also did it for me and my bridesmaids. Hope that helps.

My FI was the same way...he had everything that he wanted really so I was struggling too! Then I overheard him talking to his guys about how they all wanted to smoke cigars of the wedding weekend and at the reception but they had no where to keep them. So I went and bought a nice humidor starter set that held like 20 cigars and had cutters and everything and filled it and gave it to him right before all the guys arrived. He was so excited and never let it leave his sight all weekend! I know that's him but maybe it will make you think of something you have heard him talk about!

I bought by Hubby-2b a his dream bass guitar. It wasn't cheap, but then again he is paying for a pricey honeymoon(so i consider that mainly my gift)

As a surprise I am getting a 3d cake make in the shape of the guitar i am giving to him. I have also been scrapbooking all of our "first" things and the trips we have taken. I will be giving him that the night before, and the guitar while he is getting ready.... The cake will be at the reception of course. He will be able to "have his cake and eat it too"

I had the same problem with my husband after we got married. He's picky about Jewelery and I bought him a Watch. Sadly he didn't get it until 6 months after we got married and surprisingly enough wears it every day. If you have something that you can fit into your Carry On Bag that is small surprise him on the airplane. A lot of Brides will give their grooms something before the wedding but if you're flying that night and gave him the journal on the plane ride over to Italy you'd both be entertained on the ride over. Something else you can see if there's something he loves in Italy. Maybe you would take the surprise out of the other gift, but at least you know it will be something he loves and will appreciate. Congratulations.

Since your both excited about the Honeymoon, try a new camera. There are really good deals on them, so he can snap away all he wants!

    Congrats! Gena

I dont know about useful, but this is definitely not expensive. When my husband and I had our original wedding, I got a "manly" leather box and put 22 items in it. 1 for each year we had been together (Since middle school) and the last representing our future. These were things I had saved while we were growing up, like a concert ticket stub from 1987, a matchbook from where we went the last night before he moved across country. Alot of it I had, because I saved everything while we dated, but some I did scramble around to find like running back to the restaurant for the matchbook. But you could do something like that. 7 things? Now whenever we do something that was special or just really memorable and fun we put it in the box! 30 yrs from now when we are 65 we will sit down and it will be like a time capsule!

Whatever you choose to do, he will love because he loves you. Congratulations!

I'm not sure if he would like this, but I bought my fiance a box of cigars and a cigar lighter. He doesnt normally smoke but I know some guys think its so cool to celebrate an event with their buddies with a cigar. I bought him enough to share with his groomsmen so they can all go outside sometime during the wedding and enjoy them! You can find some really mild ones too.

I also think they'll make for some great pictures!

    Hope that helps. Smiley smile

Since it around Valentines Day, I bought a book "What I love about you" http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Home-gift/What-I-Love-about-You/e/9780767923156/?itm=2 which is a book full of things like "Everyday I'm grateful that you helped me _______", "I knew I first loved you when_______", " I respect how you overcame________" You fill in the blanks. It is 90 pages so it will take me a while and I work on it a little every night after he goes to bed. Hopefully by August I will have it complete.

We are trying hard to save money for a house so I think this was a great buy under $20.
