Bride weight loss?

Mary-Beth, on June 29, 2017 at 7:06 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 23

I'm a thicker woman, (between 180-200lbs) and want to lose weight before my big day, it's decently away but I have trouble sticking to exercise plans because I get discouraged easily. Any ideas on how I can get the weight off before I go to get my dress so I can stay the weight and know my size for my big day?

Use MyFitnessPal to calculate how many calories you should be eating each day and track everything you eat and drink.

I was 185. Changed my eating habits and now I'm 20 pounds down within a few months.

Eat smaller portions, eat whole foods like lean protein and vegetables instead of processed junk. Stop drinking soda, stop eating fried foods. You can't outrun a bad diet.

Weight loss has more to do with diet than exercise. Eat clean, eliminate processed foods and sugar. Cut back grains and eat low carb, I've been eating clean since the beginning of the year and have lost 30 lbs with no exercise. However I am now trying to be more active as well. The most important thing though is to find a healthy eating plan that works for you and stick with it! But don't get up on the scale....its just a number and does not define you. Be healthy and take the weight loss as an added bonus!

I second using a meal tracking app. You become much more conscious of portion size when you have to log everything you eat and drink. It kind of became a game for me, checking off each meal, each protein serving, each ounce of water I consumed...I felt a sense of accomplishment each time I logged that I had eaten something that I was supposed to that day.

Tactical suggestion for healthy eating - don't keep any junk food in the house, because if it's not there you can't eat it. And DO keep some sort of healthy snacks around, otherwise you'll be tempted to go buy junk if you're hungry and don't want to cook.

My days usually go ... coffee and cream ... then 2 more cups black coffee ... then lunch at 11 I generally eat a chicken breast or fish some veggies ... mid day snack ice cream sandwich , then for dinner I'll have salad with cheese and protein of some sort croutons and a light dressing

.. and carrots or celery for a snack dry ... I drink mostly water ... occasionally I'll eat fruit .. but I have 3 kids so when I buy fruit I like it's usually gone because they eat it lol

Second not keeping junk in the house! And don't grocery shop hungry. I lost about 20 lbs over a year or so a couple of years back, and I cleaned out my house and was very careful about what I bought. I also added a work out, and I made sure to look up the nutrition of things I ate out (when possible). Sometimes the salad seems like a good option but the dressing is full of fat and empty calories. I found that opened my eyes to when I was not actually being healthy. I also snack a ton - a banana mid-morning, something protein oriented in the afternoon - to keep myself from gorging at meals. Portion control is key - look at serving sizes and eat that much. Never eat out of the bag/carton/box. And finally, tons of water! Most people carry a few pounds of water weight because they don't drink enough water and their body holds on to what they have. My weight fluctuates like 2-3 lbs depending on how hydrated I am.

CUT SODAS AND JUICE out your diet! I lost 42lbs as of today. I eat lean protein lots of fruits and vegetables. Stay away from sugar and try to get at least 4 days in, of least 30 minutes of cardio. I went from a size 18 to a 12. I have 20 pounds to go. I have started an intense workout that includes jogging and in two weeks I have dropped 9lbs. Once you start eating 5-6 small meals a day your metabolism will speed up. You got this! Just think of food as a fuel for your body to get you to the next meal. It's mental. Ask a friend to join you on walks and slowly start to pick up the pace each time. Wishing you much success!!

5 small meals. Cut carbs, soda. Lots of protein and water. Try to walk a little bit if you can hit the gym for half an hour. Figure out if they have a rowing machine. You will lose quickly and safely. Good luck.

I have an eating disorder and I am a plus size bride that decided to accept my body as it is for my wedding. I still take care of it the same way that I have been for years and added a big boost of self-care habits. I decided that I didn't want a billion dollar industry to define the beauty standards of a bride. I am a bride no matter what. Since I made this decision a year ago, my engagement has been much more enjoyable and low stress. Your body is very intuitive. If you listen to it honestly, you will never be steering wrong. The only changes I've made is drinking more water. This wasn't a weight loss decision but it has helped me to feel better. I also do things that make me happy like hiking, stand up paddle boarding, yoga, swimming, etc. I treat these as movement therapy rather than exercise to lose weight.

Honor your body and be the beautiful bride that you are. If you do this, you won't need to worry about maintaining a certain weight for your wedding. It will be your body's natural set point.
