Bride with Migraines

Brandy, on July 12, 2022 at 6:59 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 5
I suffer with migraines, I can use a pony tail or Bobby pins, it’s an immediate headache. I am worried about finding a nice down look and if a veil or tiara would cause a migraine.

Does anyone else suffer from migraines? If so, what are you doing?

I have migraines as well. It can be too hot, hair too tight, not eating, dehydration and even switching from my glasses to contacts. However, what I’ve learned is to take ibuprofen before hand in order to offset the migraine. I don’t get them as often as I used to. I have chosen to do a down hairstyle because I don’t want to suffer on the big day. Do you have any prescription meds you take? I used to have ibuprofen 800 but I’ve been able to handle my migraines more.

I do have a prescription, and am now possibly going to take preventative medicine vs the "feel it coming" medicine. I'm going to do a down hairstyle as well. I'm mostly concerned that even a veil may cause a headache. I'm thinking I may just wear it for the ceremony and photos and take it off for the reception.

Yes, that might be a good idea. I’m wearing a tiara but it’s not too tight on my head. I know I won’t wear it all night, probably the same just for the pictures and take it off after.

A lot of people take their veil off before the reception Smiley smile

You could try wearing a hair comb around for a day and see how you feel. Veils are usually attached with a comb, so if a hair comb doesn't bug you then you're probably fine with a veil. You could also try out a tiara to see if you can tolerate it for however long you'd have it in. Worst comes to worst, you could just return it.

I told my hair stylist not to use Bobby pins and not to pull too tight on my hair. If there was a hair pulling when she was putting it up I told her and she redid it so I didn’t have any pulling. I wanted a half up, half down look. Since my hair is thick and heavy, she did one smaller half up and then tied the other half of my top hair onto the first knot which gave it stability so it didn’t pull. I was good the entire day and night!

Regarding a veil, I wore a simple comb veil. I just stuck it in myself before the ceremony. It took one second to put on, my photographer asked me to take it off and put it on again so he could get a shot haha. I took it off after the ceremony.
