Brides and Grooms with children -how are you involving them?

Joanna G, on May 21, 2013 at 7:39 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 46

My son is walking me down the aisle with my mom. He is 8 and we feel that he should feel like a big part of our day. We're also adding him to our program and announcing him at the reception.

How is everyone else incorporating their very important little ones?

My son is walking me down, just me and him. He will be 5. Fh's don is 5 but he lives out of state, and we won't be able to have him for the holidays/wedding.

We have two girls together at the wedding they will be 4 and 9 months. The 4 yr old is the flower girl and the baby will be pulled in a wagon with a "here comes my mommy" or something sign. FH has a daughter who will be 8 at the wedding and she's walking him down the aisle giving him away.

I have a friend who is getting married soon, and her son is a ring bearer. They are also incorporating him into their sand ceremony. He was also in some of their e-pics and it was really cute!

Mine were 8, 18 and 20. My son walked me down the aisle, my youngest was my flower girl and my oldest was my MOH.

We also included them in the ceremony.

"husband to be, you have already demonstrated your love to these children by opening your heart and your home to them. On this day, do you welcome these children in to your life as a permanent part of your family?

Children, Do you accept 'husband to be' into your lives not as a replacement to the father you already have but as a welcome addition to your family?"

They all said I do Smiley winking

The step-parent can make vows to the children. I don't like to have the children make vows. If they get shy and don't want to talk, it can be taken as a negative.

Step-parent can give child a token of family unity (rings get outgrown quickly, a necklace is better).

    Children can pour unity sand.
