Brides/ grooms with piercings.

Cuervo, on July 7, 2017 at 11:56 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

I see a lot of posts discussing tattoos and what to do with them on your wedding day but I have yet to see any posts about piercings. So I guess I'm asking any brides and grooms on here (or your SOs) with piercings: what do you plan on doing? Are you going to take them out? Leave them be? Or try to find some nicer jewelry to fit the occasion?

Personally, I'm trying to find a nice septum ring for the big day.

    I'm wearing a nice sparkly nose ring and getting a nicer tongue ring, not that anyone will really see that.

    I also made a post about this a few months ago. I couldn't decide if i wanted to take my labret ( bottom lip/chin) piercing out or not. After the advice I got here I decided to take it out for the ceremony and formal pics but put it back in for the reception.

    I'm not sure how you kept them for so long. In my case I guess I could blame the area but I had my micro dermals in my back dimples. After fighting with them for months, getting them re-pierced and taking very good care of them, I got sick of them getting tugged on by clothing or ripping out in my sleep and took them out. I really wish it could've worked out though lol.

    I thought about getting a sparkly septum ring but I think I may go with something more simple, yet classier than the captive bead one I always wear. Gotta look through Etsy.

    I have my nose pierced and it's staying for the wedding. I also have 2 hoops in my left side cartilage - my mom has asked I not wear those, so I won't. I could find something more bridal to put in those piercings but I don't think I care enough about them

    I have my nose pierced and I'm leaving it in. I don't plan on getting new jewelry for it because everything always seems to fall out. This is the one ring that I've found that always stays in.

    I have 3 cartilage, a tragus, a conch, and 4 lobe piercings. The top two lobe piercings will stay empty since I generally don't wear them anyways. But I'm trying to find some nice CZ studs for all the other holes in my head. I picked out some nice drop earrings for my bottom lobes. I thought about removing a couple piercings for the wedding, but then I thought "Why? I've paid good money for my piercings. I love my holes. It makes me happy. Who gives a shit what others think?" FMIL doesn't like the amount that I have... But she also didn't pay for them so, oh well.

    I wore my piercings. I bought a nice pair of diamond style plugs to wear and I wore my hoop nose ring, and a small diamond lip ring. A few of my tattoos were hidden because of the style of my dress but most of them were showing. I let my body and personality shine loud and clear.

    @Olivia, I was never "brave" enough to get dermals. Do all dermals have a "lifespan" or was it just a choice to take them out? I don't know much about them.

    ETA: proper punctuation because it's Friday and I'm not thinking clearly.

    I must've missed your post! That works too, I personally have to wear my piercings throughout the whole shebang. I would feel weird and I think I wouldn't look entirely like myself and my nearest and dearest would agree.

    @Kate P.

    I had 2 hoops in my right ear's cartilage but recently received a blow to the ear at a concert and they swole up and wouldn't let the other heal so I took them out and will wait for my ear to take a breather and get them again sometime before my wedding.

    Olivia, your dermals!! Heart eyes. Sometimes it's just time to be done with them, I get it. They were pretty though.

    I have a gold hoop in my left nostril. I was going to take it out or maybe replace with a smaller stud for the wedding but FH insisted I wear it since that's how he met me and how he knows me. People never notice it and I've had it for 6.5 years so why not? YOLO. I will be wearing studs in my 2nd and 3rd holes in my earlobes and something in my cartilage as well.

    I don't have any piercings anymore anywhere other than my ears (RIP to my Monroe), but I do have 4 in each ear and was just thinking the other day about whether to wear all 4 or some combination of the 4. I wear all 4 every day, so I will probably do so for the wedding but may get some new studs to wear in the top 3 holes.

    I took out my plugs when I got engaged because I thought they might not go with the bridal look I was imagining. I was only at a 0, so as of now, 1.5 years later, my holes have pretty much entirely shrunk back to small plain earring holes. I still miss them sometimes.

    I also have a gold hoop in my nose and my mom keeps trying to get me to switch to a stud, but I haven't worn a stud since 2010, and the hoop feels like a part of me. There are tons of pictures taken of me where you can't even tell I have the hoop in, depending on the angle of my face and the lighting, so I'm thinking I might just leave it in.

    PWG - I hear you on the hoop. I think they're pretty subtle, especially if it hugs your nostril closely. Sometimes people I've known for years (usually at work) are like, "DID YOU GET YOUR NOSE PIERCED?" I'm like yeah...in 2011...it's that subtle and a part of who I am as a person. lol.

    @Betsy

    I didn't think of it for a second.

    My mother doesn't like piercings but she's gotten used to it by now. My FMIL just thinks I'm kinda crazy because of them. I'd love to see pictures of whatever jewelry you come up with!

    @Marissa W.

    That sounds great. I become a little saddened when I see the posts of people on here being asked to hide their tattoos by their families or SOs and they don't want to do it. I want to look like myself on my wedding day, just in a fancy dress and better make up lol.

    @OliviaP

    I bet, and 2 years??? I wish. Did you ever have problems with your clothing? I think my biggest downfall were my jeans.

    Just leave em', I only wear all basic steel stuff so I think the silver color is nice. I may invest in some nice stone plugs though.

    Let's hope these things don't start migrating in 3 years :/

    I have my nose pierced and I'm just gonna have a subtle, cute stud in for the wedding! I love my nose piercing, so it won't be coming out! Haha.

    @Olivia, the first time I saw a dermal, I was working at a local gas station during high school and a lady came in and had one done on either side of her face, at the highest part of her cheekbone. They were super pretty, but it looked like she'd been punched square in the nose. The dermals gave her black eyes for weeks. It was pretty terrifying. A while later she came back with one in each cheek dimple. Super sparkly. I was pretty jealous.

    @OP, I'm honestly looking at Amazon. For all my tragus, conch, and cartilage, I buy lip studs with the flat backs. Make it so much easier to handle/care for. They have some 4 packs of the 316L surgical steel that I use. I can't decide if I want to do pearl, CZ diamond, or blue. Tough decisions.

    This is the link to the earrings for my lobes:

    https://www.amazon.com/Mariell-Zirconia-Earrings-Freshwater-Weddings/dp/B00YQBRPWU/ref=sr_1_25?ie=UTF8&qid=1499450366&sr=8-25&keywords=wedding earrings

    I say they match my ring because my ring band comes to the same point/shape under the diamond.

    ETA: @Olivia, I think the black eyes are what scared me off from getting a dermal in the end. Now I just don't think I'd have the patience for them

    I had to take my labret and nose piercings out a couple years ago (thank you corporate job) but I would have absolutely left them in, I loved them and they were a part of me. My friend has a lip ring and decided to change out her regular silver hoop for a sparkly stud. She ended up loving it so much she left it that way afterwards.

    I'm leaving all if my piercings in, they help make me who I am and I don't think you should ever try to cover that up.

    I have my nose, industrial and lip x2. I'm taking my lip rings out (I only wear them occasionally as is) but I will have a diamond stud in my nose and I'll have my industrial in. I also have collarbone dermals which will be small diamonds as well.
