My fiance proposed on his graduation day in front of my old college dorm where we first met

No thank you! I don't support this antiquated, patriarchal custom, nor the immense waste of funds on a bauble such as the engagement ring. I also want to be an example for the young women in my life that the princess fairytale proposal/wedding is a lot of foolishness and that the focus should be on the health and wellbeing of the relationship.
