Brides who had a uniced or semi iced wedding cakes what were your thoughts and what made you pick that cake

DanteNicole, on April 3, 2020 at 9:27 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7

I cannot wait to to go cake tasting! I'm not a huge fan of icing (I scrape it off all the time) so I decided to have a semi-iced cake...because it was enough icing for were people can enjoy it...My fiance isn't a huge of the semi iced cake, I don't think he likes the look of it, I personally love shabby chic. But he says he doesn't care unless it's good. How did you guys enjoy your uniced or semi iced cakes. Why did you pick that, was it dry? Did your guest enjoy it, did they complain about the lack of icing.

We didn’t have a naked cake, but I’ve had them at other weddings and wasn’t a fan. They can be done fine, but typically they’re dry.

The only think I have heard about semi iced cakes is they can dry out. That would be my only concern - but just talk to your Baker.

We did semi iced cakes from nothingbundtcakes.com because we were not fans of a fully iced cake but didn't want fully naked either. I had the company to do a 3 tier cake an 5 dozen semi iced mini Bundt cupcakes and I will just say not a crumb was left, not even enough to save for the first year anniversary which was ok with me. (I don't do freezer burnt cake) so we ordered a fresh mini Bundt cup cake for our anniversary. Their cakes are all I order for special occasions ever since. The cakes aren't for everyone but I haven't been disappointed. I found nothingbundtcakes.com on here. I just couldn't see spending hundred of dollars of cake just to have half sitting in a freezer. Plus the company offers multiple flavors.

I’m not a big fan of icing but my FH and I don’t really like the naked looks. At our cake tasting our baker suggested just the thinnest possible layer of icing so it looks iced but has about the same icing on it as the semi iced cake. Also because they didn’t but any icing between cake layers so there is less in the middle. I would just talk to your baker. We didn’t know that was an option until she suggested it

Looking to do a crumb coat on a red velvet cake for our personal cake and cupcakes for the guests. Our theme is slightly rustic so it works and we don’t care for fondant or icing though.

I personally don't like icing either. I found an icing on pintrest that I love! It is not sweet. It is a whipped cream cheese frosting and I use about half the amount of sugar so it's not overly sweet. It tastes so good! Here is the recipe, maybe you can try this.
