Brides who have history of fainting?

Lindsay, on July 19, 2019 at 7:31 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 14
How did you get through you’re ceremony? I’m panicking about fainting at my ceremony. I think I’ve developed a phobia of fainting which makes anxiety kick in. It’s almost like I’m subconsciously “planning” it. Help, I’m so nervous!

I'd go to a counselor for something like this. Ot seems pretty serious.

I’ve been to many doctors and health issues has been ruled out - it’s definitely anxiety. I just need to learn to float through.

On the day of the wedding stay well hydrated, make sure you eat. When you are standing at your ceremony make sure your knees are slightly relaxed, not locked straight. Try to breath normally, don’t hyperventilate. Try not to dwell on the fainting part (easier said than done) because if you do you will faint... focus on your FH and your vows. Hold his hands for support

People often faint including groomsman because they stand there too long with their knees locked cutting off circulation. Just bend your knees or move your legs a little. Like others said, stay hydrated and eat something and you will be fine. Stay in the moment. Anti-anxiety medication is not a bad idea but make sure you are used to it or you will be a loopy bride who doesn't remember a lot. Lol

What kind of ceremony are you having? I remember another bride on here post about a health issue that prevented her from standing for long periods of time, so they decided to do the ceremony sitting. Might something like that work?

I have been worrying about this happening to me! I pass out very easily. All my life, especially during the "time of the month", I have passed out (my family isn't surprised anymore when it happens). Medical issues have been ruled out, I just have low iron and low blood pressure. The hot weather (or just being too hot in general) usually causes it, too. I'm getting married outside in August and in HUGE ballgown (what was I thinking????). And on top of it, I'll be so nervous having all eyes on us. Holding onto your fiance's hands for balance is good advice!

I’ve fainted a few times before.
I made sure the wedding was small with people I’m comfortable talking to! Also do not lock your knees!! (Make sure you’ve had some food and water.. not alcohol.. that could make you more likely to faint and can cause bloating... just water or juice for some sugar)
I am also doing a first look which was suggested to help with anxiety. if you are nervous make sure you have it where you can look over and see your mom and/or other familiar comfortable faces ...look at your fiancé (pretend he’s the only person there). Also make sure to just breathe.
One other trick that has helped me was to use my senses and help ground me. So find something I can touch, smell, and taste. I’ve also used lavender oil and peppermint oil to help with upset stomach and stress (it really helps me). If you have to close your eyes and take a few deep breaths
That was a lot of info I threw at you so I’m sorry about that. I just wanted to put out all the things that help me/ have helped me. Try to push it out of your mind it’s very hard to do, but try and find a few other things to focus on instead. (Also maybe try and have a short ceremony... mine is only gonna be about 15 min)

Thank you so much!!!! It’s sad but it’s kind of nice to know I’m not alone.
