Brides who wore heels...

el10717, on August 29, 2017 at 11:59 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 44

So I have my first fitting later today and still need to make a final decision about my shoes. I bought a gorgeous pair of badgley mischka roxy heels that seriously make me swoon. But they aren't very comfortable and a little pricy (I still have time to return). I also have a pair of betsey johnson sandals that are super comfy and cute but lacking any sort of wow factor. Anyone who wore heels wish they had gone with flats? Or vice versa? If my phone works I'll post pics of both.

I should add that I bought both shoes on sale, but the betsey johnson ones are still half the price of the others.

I'm going with comfort! I have a pair of small heels for the ceremony and pictures and a pair of white glittery Kate Spade keds to change into afterwards.

I'm leaning towards comfort but seriously the heels are so freaking gorgeous in person

Can you put some kind of insert to help make the heels more comfortable?

I wore these! Nothing fancy or crazy expensive, but they were comfortable and I must have been on such a wedding high that I didn't even realize I had them on. I have them on for about 8 hours! I am short so I couldn't imagine wearing flats with my wedding dress. Honestly aside from the pictures NO ONE will see your shoes so wear whatever you are most comfortable with.

Susan, if you get your dress hemmed while you are wearing heels aren't you going to have to hold your dress up all night when you change into flats?

@Danielle I tried inserts from another pair of heels last night and it completely changed the way the shoe fit. Guess it may be worth it to try another insert

Could you do both? I know you said you planned on returning a pair but they're both pretty! Maybe the heels for the ceremony since you have to move around less and the sandals for the reception so you can get your dance on

I love both of your shoe options!

I'm planning on wearing heels for the ceremony and pictures, changing into something comfortable for the reception.

Some people are super concerned about the length when you wear heels vs. sandals. My heels aren't crazy high, so my seamstress said it won't be that drastic of a length difference when I put on my sandals.

Ultimately you want to be able to walk and be comfortable, so it's really your decision!

I had Badgley Mischka heels (pic attached), and forgot to bring/purchase flats. They were comfortable up until the end - I danced barefoot the last hour or so of the reception.

I actually have those Betsy Johnson flats (in pink), and the material makes your feet slide a lot.

Don't worry about "wow" factor - your dress will be enough. Do you having a tea length dress? No one is going to see (or care) if you do.

I wore the badgley mischka roxy heels and they weren't too bad. I did put in a cushion for the balls of my feet. I wore them for maybe 4 hours. After dinner I changed into some Kate Spade sandals that I already owned.

I went for a shorter comfortable heel. They were pricey though, but I wore them all night. No complaints. I also did not need to hem my wedding dress. IMO go for something that you love and something that is comfortable if you plan to wear them all night. Or choose two, heel for ceremony and flats for the reception. Keep in mind hemming. If you get your dress hemmed for your ceremony with heels then it may bee too long for the reception with flats. Maybe a bustle will help with that. Either way, my vote is for comfort during your reception. You want to focus on your DS and your special day, not complaining about the pain your feet are in. Both are beautiful choices though, so good luck!

I got Badgley Mischka heels, different than the ones posted here though. They're the peep toe pumps with crystals on the heel. They're pretty damn comfortable compared to Steve Madden which is what I normally wear. I decided to go heels because it's my damn wedding, I should be fancy and wear heels. But that's part of my personality. I have wedges that are lightweight and more comfortable and the same height as the Mischka ones, so I'll change into those after because I was worried about having to hold my dress up because it's too long. However, My DJ suggested I bring flats. I told him about the wedges and he's like well, ok, if you're comfortable in them, but I'd still suggest a pair of flats incase.

Also I got those plastic things you put over the heel so you don't sink into the ground and they also make the shoes easier to walk in.

My question to you would be is the price of the Badgley Mischka heels worth the amount of time you'll be wearing them? Also, it's likely not a lot of people will even know what shoes you're wearing so what is it worth to you?

Maybe I'm partial because I bought the same Betsey Johnson sandals for my wedding day but I'm definitely more of a comfort girl.

I also bought some AMAZING badgley Mischkas. I wore them to my first fitting and within 20 minutes of standing there my knees and ankles hurt too much to keep them on. So then I switched. You could certainly do something like that. Just stand in the BMs for awhile and see if you can even make it through the ceremony. I would not have been able to. So I went with some comfortable less glamorous Angela Nuran's (dancing with the stars shoes that are made to be comfortable).

I bought the Badgley Mischkas in pale pink vs ivory because I knew I'd be able to wear them again. Also they're $230/250ish retail and I got them for around $140 so it was worth it to me. But @Amanda makes great points!

I had Badgley Mischka heels and loved them! I found them to be very comfortable. For me, what seems to be make or break for heels is whether or not there is a little bit of a platform. The heels you purchased would never be comfortable for me because they're so flat. I wouldn't buy a pair of feels anything thinner than Gymrat's. There was another Badgley Mischka pair that I loved the design of, but because how little support there was under the ball of your foot I just said no.

I wore my shoes from about 11 AM - 6:30 PM, I didn't take them off until the very end of the night. I took about 7 dance classes in them as well.
