Bridesmaid and mother gifts

Gabby, on February 25, 2021 at 5:41 AM Posted in Planning 0 14
What did everyone get their bridesmaids as gifts? I’ve already gotten them a personalized hanger with their names on it to hang their dress and robes. Should I add more?

Also did you get anything for the mother’s? Bride’s mother, future mother in law? What would be a nice gift for these ladies? Should it be more personal or like a typical bridesmaid gift like mini champagne bottle, and a robe?

I have a small bridal party- 3 in total. I bought totes (with their name), makeup bag (name on the front, title & date inside) & silver bracelet (with a charm that has their initial) from Etsy- all were on sale. Bought earrings from a farmer’s market & since I bought 3 sets, she gave me a discount. I work at a hospital & the gift shop was having a clearance sale so I bought specialty soaps & jams. Most expensive thing I bought was a balsamic vinegar & olive oil set at a specialty store where we live. I bought things a little at a time so I wouldn’t get hit all at once. I spent around $85 per each bridesmaid.

I got each of my bridesmaids a tote bag (looks like a Longchamp bag), a tank and earrings for the day of the wedding, and a personal gift in the $50 range for each. I don't consider anything being used the day of the wedding to be a real gift since they're really for my pictures and they may never use those items again.
For the personal gifts, I just picked things based on their individual likes. I got a name necklace with the name in my handwriting, a Kate Spade crossbody, a cutting board with an elephant and her name engraved, and a truffle salt, honey, and mustard set.
For my mom I got her a jewelry box from Etsy with a short thank you note laminated inside. For FMIL, we're paying for her hair and makeup the day of and we may get her a piece of jewelry.

You should get them something else. Both of those items are props for your photos and don’t really show any appreciation to your bridesmaids. We got our bridal party items that were specific to their hobbies and interests. For example, my best friend is a tattoo artist and she got a leather-bound sketch book.

Typically you also get your parents a gift and your FS gets their parents gifts. Most people get something sentimental. I got my mom an embroider handkerchief and my stepdad an embroidered patch for the back of his tie. Then when we got our photos back, I ordered my mom an album.

Etsy has been my best friend throughout this planning. I absolutely love the gifts im giving them. Yes its the basic jewelry and robes. But the travel cases are so damn cute. I hate putting my jewelry in a bag then it all gets tangled. All my bridesmaids get all 3 of these and the mothers im still working on for jewelry

I have 4 in my bridal party and I purchased them matching pajama sets from Target. It's a silk set with shorts, button down long sleeved shirt, and an eye mask. I'm also planning on getting them the Porter portable wine glasses from W&P. I'll most likely put a airplane bottle of their fav wine/liquor in it with either a $5 gift card to Starbucks, or just some candy/chocolates.

I highly suggest staying away from gifts with your wedding date, and/or their wedding title on it. They're more likely to use the gift afterwards if it doesn't have that on it! I also just want to say that I disagree that robes/pj sets are 'photo props for you'. If you know your bridal party and know that they'll enjoy them as a gift in the future, then get them matching robes or pjs! I know all of my ladies will use them afterwards, hence why I bought them lol.

For the moms, I'm planning on framing one of our engagement pictures for them, then replacing it with a wedding photo once we receive them!

I would definitely give them something else because both hangers and robes are wedding related and essentially photo props.

What I did was: first, I paid for their hair and makeup and gave each bridesmaid a satin pajama set with their initials monogrammed. These were wedding related so they didn't count as gifts. Therefore, the actual 'gift' was a piece of Kendra Scott jewelry for each bridesmaid in the $60-$65 range.

For the moms (well the parents and in-laws), I made them Shutterfly albums after the wedding photos came back.

I'm planning on gifting my bridal part hair and make up for the day, so they don't have to stress.
A pajama set, I saw a really nice one at Target and with my 5% discount for having a red card it makes sense. I'm also thinking of getting them a nice large tote with their names on it with no reference to the wedding. We're very big beach people and they're always carrying tote bags to the beach or to the Gym.

I'm still stuck on some other things, in their proposal boxes they all got a waterbottle that I put their names on in Vinyl, a Face Mask, Hair Ties and a candle.

I found this on Etsy for my mom, she enjoys sentimental things like this.

For bridesmaids, I got them all robes, hangers, earrings, champagne flutes, and candles.

For moms, I got them jewelry dishes with a message written on them and I put a pair of earrings inside for them to wear on the day of.

We ordered photo albums (through shutterfly I think) of wedding photos for our parents after the fact.

My sister got us overnight bags. She gave them to us before the wedding and they turned out to be super helpful for the day of, and bringing all of the things we needed.

I plan to give my bridesmaids some form of jewelry as their gift, although I haven't decided on the type of jewelry and brand yet. I will also be paying for their hair, makeup, nails, and getting ready attire, but I don't consider those to be gifts because they're for the wedding.

Hanger, custom champagne flute (we will be having mimosas/champagne), and probably their robes for the day as well. For my mother and father I found a really cute custom message handkerchief I could each get them one. For in laws I found a cool bottle opener and a cute little jewelry bowl that says "I promise I'll take care of him". You could also do little photography books with their photos or even a frame and photo. I haven't completely decided on in laws but it will be something like that.

I agree with this. Give them not wedding related at all
