Bridesmaid boob job

grace15, on September 29, 2015 at 11:44 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 62

So I'm not sure if I should be upset about this or not. There's nothing I can really do about it, so maybe I just need to vent lol

I found out last week that my sister-in-law and bridesmaid got a boob job. Now, I'm not trying to judge, I'd love to get one myself one day, but 1. she already had full C's (the largest breasts in our family) and has chosen to get full D's and 2. this means she will only have about 2 weeks to get her dress altered (I found out that she had bought it a couple sizes larger on purpose knowing she was planning the surgery when my brother (her husband) told me last week.

I guess my question is: should I be upset about this? When I chose the dresses for my BMs I purposely told them they'd probably need to get the straps altered so they weren't too revealing (I'm pretty conservative). Do I need to remind her of this now?

Maybe I'm totally off base and overreacting here...

Does it make a difference whether you are upset or not?

Everybody has moments of overreaction and panic. And this is a great place to vent. But yes, Emily, you are overreacting. Smiley smile Her boobs, her body, her business.

ETA wait...name change? You are now...Frank?

Eh, I'm sure there are plenty of other things to be concerned about. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Why would you be upset? She planned for it obviously so alterations shouldn't be a huge deal... I mean- would it have made a difference to you if she was naturally large?

She probably could've waited until after the wedding but at least she planned ahead and got a bigger dress. Theres not really any reason for you to be upset. Remind them all about the straps and see how that goes over.

^ Shauna shouldn't it be 'don't sweat the big stuff' lol. Please excuse my poor attempt at humor.

I don't think you should be upset. She bought the dress in a bigger size, and will probably get it altered to fit. As long as it fits, I don't see anything to be upset about.

Hahaha the title of this thread had me cracking up. I'm sure she didn't do it to spite you and your wedding. Your wedding isn't as high of a priority to anyone but you.

Exactly what @OriginalRandi said. There is nothing you can do. I'm actually shocked that she got them done so close to your wedding. It usually takes about 3 months for the boobs to be comfortable and looking more normal. Shes the one that will suffer, not you. I think you are overreacting.

Surprising that she had it done so close to the wedding, but there's really nothing you can do, so don't throw a fit. At least she thought ahead and bought her dress a size larger. At the end of the wedding day, I doubt you'll even remember whether she shows an inch or two extra of cleavage or not.

Yes you are overreacting. As long as she is there on the wedding day in the chosen dress and I fits moderately well she is fulfilling her duty as a bridesmaid.

She will have enough time to get the dress altered if need be. No need to stress about it. I agree, it would have been nice to have her wait until after the wedding but nothing you can do about it.

I'm not mad at her for doing it, and I never thought that she was doing it to spite me (not sure how the thread title implies that...she's a bridesmaid and she got a boob job?) Anyways, I didn't plan on saying anything to her, I know it's not my business, but everyone I've told this to in the last week or so has pretty much reacted like they would be shocked and appalled if someone in their wedding party had decided to do this so close to the wedding, especially someone in the family.

So are you upset because she won't look conservative?

She ordered a bigger dress size knowing she was probably planning this anyway. I wouldn't get too worked up about this. She'll get it altered to fit properly so I don't see the big deal. Don't worry about it because when your wedding day comes that's the last thing that will be on your mind.

People are shocked and appalled? Why? She has plenty of time to recover from the surgery. It sounds like her dress will fit. This really doesn't affect you in any way.

Sorry, I couldn't think of any other way it could possibly have anything to do with you or impact your wedding.
