Bridesmaid chambray?

Kaylie, on December 19, 2013 at 2:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

I'm thinking of having denim (chambray) shirts monogrammed for my girls to get ready in. Is this something they could wear post wedding? Also is it essential for me to wear a different color getting ready or could I wear the denim to?

Personally I wouldn't wear a monogramed chambray shirt after the wedding... maybe if it was a plain chambray shirt ... but the monogramm... meh. just my 2 cents.

I wouldn't wear a monogrammed shirt period. Chambray, I'm even less likely to wear ever. It is cute for getting ready but it isn't a gift for use after the wedding.

If you don't wanna be in a different color who cares? Your wedding day is your day. The wedding police aren't going to come and put you in prison for not wearing a specific color when you're getting ready Smiley winking

I definitely wouldn't expect them to wear it after the wedding. I am having shirts embroidered for our getting ready pictures, but I fully expect it to be a one day thing.

It depends on your girls. Do you think a chambray shirt fits their style and they would wear it after? I also don't think you need a diff color... I'm opting to buy my girls zip-up hoodies to get ready in... we will all be in purple.

I probably wouldn't wear it either. Everyone thinks that you need the matching shirts for that "getting ready" picture but it's so overdone. Your pictures will still be cute without 10 girls in matching outfits with their first initial on it.. I promise

Hmm I'm a little surprised at the anti monogram comments lol. It's a big trend in my part of the world right now. My thought on me needing to wear a different color was that I'd be set apart and all, but everyone is well aware I'm the bride so I don't think I'll worry about that lol!

I think the chambray shirts are a cute idea. I see a lot of younger girls wearing them monogrammed but I probably wouldn't.

I think the point of wearing a different color for the bride is so they stand out.

I am doing these robes for my girls and the white for myself since it is more "bridal".

I had to google chambray. Personally, I don't wear them, but that doesn't mean other girls won't. You know your girls better than we do. Have you seen them in it before? If so, then go for it.

I also wouldn't ever wear anything monogrammed. Why not go for a zip-up hoodie or something more commonly worn?

The risky business look isn't for me. But I also hate wearing collared shirts.

I get the thought process behind it but it just seems like a little waste of money for the photo opp. Don't buy them shirts but instead buy them their manicure?? I would much prefer a manicure than a shirt I'll never wear again with a huge C on it!

I had my getting ready shirt personalized, but I will never wear it again. It was a photo op.

I've seen all of my girls in denim shirts with colored skinnies and they all love their monograms. Maybe it's a southern thing lol. It's not going to cost me anything to monogram them so I think I'm gonna go for it. Of course this won't be their only thank you gift though.

If your girls like that style then def go for it! Also, if you want to stand out a little you could just have a different colored monogram than the rest of the girls.

@ErinC I think a lot of brides just want to give their girls something personal, and monograms are pretty personal. And I'm personally excited about getting to show my new monogram off. Lol I just ordered monogrammed riding boots.

I wouldn't wear it afterwards. I would also not use a favor that had your names and date on it.

@celia I agree with you on the favors. I got a coaster with the bride and groom's monogram on it. While it's cute, it's not my monogram.

@Kaylie - Definitely a southern thing. I don't know a bride who HASN'T done some kind of monogrammed thing for the BMs to get ready in (be it a button down, a robe, a towel wrap etc...) I'm probably doing monogrammed red PJ pants for us all and black tank tops for the girls (white tank top for me).

Sounds cute and will look great in photos. Monogram on, girl!

Wasn't trying to be catty! Having been in 7 weddings and having had to wear the matching monogrammed outfits in 6 of them made me see that it can be a little bit of a waste! But if your girls typically wear those items then I am sure they would love it
