Bridesmaid Gifts

CourtneyBrittain, on April 2, 2019 at 8:28 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15
Okay I think I’ve figured out what I’m getting my Bridesmaids. I ended up deciding on a nice candle from Bath & Body Works (FH works there and gets 40% off!!) which are 100% exchangeable and returnable, the earrings I want them to wear at the ceremony, and probably a mug or thermos.
When do you give bridesmaid gifts? If you were a bridesmaid what would think of these gifts?

I’d LOVE those gifts because I love candles and coffee 😂 I’m doing “bridesmaid survival kits” with a personalized mug! 😊 I plan on giving it to them the night before the wedding!

Ugh I love the Bath and Body Works 3-wicks. They’re awesome.

Usually you give the gifts at a rehearsal dinner, the night before the wedding, or the day of.

Those sound nice! One time I was in B&BW and this bride was checking out with a bajillion items for her wedding party and I was like wow that's a lot, her bags (yes plural) were huge! Hahah I think one candle each or like a body wash/lotion are good ideas. Everything else you're getting sounds awesome/spot on too! I got the girls champagne flutes already with their names on them for the day of to use, I am doing jewelry for them and I am paying a portion of their stay/flight for our bachelorette to Vegas (like $150 each so not to toot my own horn but that's plenty). I might cave and do a lotion/body wash from B&BW also just because I love it there and the sales are always great!

I would love to gt a nice candle, and a mug. Earrings, I would not be happy to get. I have super sensitive ears so I need to wear 100% hypoallergenic or white gold earrings and that's it. Even then, I have to clean the earrings & my ears in a special solution prior to putting them in & after I take them out. So if I was gifted earrings, there is a 99% chance I wouldn't wear them. I'm totally fine wearing rings, toe rings, necklaces, bracelets, hair clips gifted to me though. I'm gifting each girl a tote, tumbler, getting ready outfit, hanger, letter from me + 1 individual item for each girl (candle, body lotion, bottle of wine, etc.). For the proposal gift, I gave them a jewelry box, nail polish & a liquor shooter. For the bachelorette, I'm giving them a wine tumbler & hangover kit.

So, me personally, I would hate the gift. I also hate candles and BBW is like my ultimate nemesis. I think I'm getting a headache just thinking about that store. So not only would I hate the candle, but returning it would be impossible because I would get a migraine if I tried.

Now, for other less dramatic people who like candles and BBW, they would probably really like it.

I also would get a migraine from the candle and it would be my worst nightmare. Anything coffee related would be welcome and anything that doesn’t reference the wedding.

    I'm getting mine:

-earrings to wear for the ceremony

    -robes for getting ready

-anti chafe balm for the big day

-a book that reminds me of them, and a personal note inside the cover

The only thing I would say with earrings as a gift is, make sure the recipients actually have pierced ears.

I do not have pierced ears, nor do I ever wear clip-ons, and I have received earrings as a gift from well-meaning friends numerous times. While I appreciate the sentiment, I really wish people wouldn't just assume that all women have pierced ears. Now I have these lovely gifts that unfortunately I cannot wear.

Oh yeah, don’t worry I am positive all my ladies have their ears pierced and wear earrings on a regular basis.

I got each of my girls a piece of jewelry specific to them (not for the wedding) and I also got them their getting ready outfits, face masks, lotions, and nail polish when I asked them to be a bridesmaid.

I'm planning to give my bridesmaids their gifts when they arrive at the house they are staying in for our wedding, the day of our rehearsal dinner.

I think what you are planning to give them sounds lovely. Instead of the mug, you could also do a theme for your gift, building off of the candle, and get them a one use face mask or treatment plus any other little spa-type items to pamper them Smiley smile
