Bridesmaid Gifts!

Brittany, on November 22, 2021 at 4:08 PM Posted in Planning 2 8
I’m looking to get some cute gifts for my girls to give the morning of the wedding. With Black Friday coming up I’m hoping to get some good sales! Any recommendations for websites where I can find gift ideas? Looking for robes, slippers (etc.)

Anything for the wedding day and pictures is a prop for you, not a gift for them. A bridesmaid gift they will appreciate and keep is something that you would buy for their birthday that fits their individual interests and hobbies that is not embroidered/engraved with names/date. What are they into? Cooking, sports, crafts, something else?

I think it really depends how much your bridesmaids are paying for. In Australia, we pay for just about everything - hair, makeup, dress, shoes, jewellery, accommodation night before, catering whilst getting ready, wraps if it's cold... essentially all my bridesmaids have to do on the day is turn up. And, they wouldn't have agreed to be bridesmaids if they didn't want to. So, the gift is just a token element with a heartfelt letter expressing how much they mean to me.

If I'd expected them to pay for all of that stuff themselves, then frankly I think the gift should be a little more substantial.

Either way - my gifts are a combination of things to use on the day and things to take away as they choose - to make things feel more luxurious, and also to let them know how much they mean to me. They are:

    robes

    slippers

blister packs and squishy things to put in their shoes to make them more comfy

    wraps in case it's cold

    cocktails in bottles

    cute little biscuits

    hand sanitiser

hydrating face masks for the night before or morning of

personalised makeup bags (just their initial)

stockings (it was originally supposed to be much colder)

this fancy Korean pear juice that's supposed to help prevent hangovers

I also have champagne glasses I've put vinyl decals with their names on, because at my sister's wedding we all got confused about who owned what glass because they were constantly being put down to go get your hair done or whatnot.

It would be uncommon here to be expected to give/do more than that, really.

I don't completely agree with the concept of "if you want it for your photos then it isn't a gift, it's a prop." I think that's all very subjective, depending what it is. I also don't think it would make sense to shop for everyone personally, as that can add up very quickly on your end, but I also don't think it would be "fair" to everyone.

With this in mind, I am getting all of my ladies the same items, but catered to each of them as individuals. I'm also focusing on shopping for items based on what I would want if I was a bridesmaid, and considered what would I want to use more long-term versus just day of.

Dos: Pajamas, Flannels, Timeless Jewelry, Mirrors/Compacts, Makeup Bags (emergency kits with oil blot sheets, eyelash glue, tissues, etc.), Custom Candies (like Sugarfina), Beach/Reusable Shopping Bags

Don'ts: Anything that says "bridesmaid" or your wedding date on it, Robes (especially if they've been a bridesmaid before), Glasses/Cups/Shots (hello Good Will!), Hangers, Knock-off brands, Keychains

I'm big for quality over quantity, and often times have found that the cheaper something is, the more it shows - especially for wedding related items. If I can find it overpriced in a tourist shop, I don't think it would be a very meaningful keepsake.

Regardless what you end up choosing, it's coming from a kind place and I'm sure they will appreciate it. I hope this helps! Smiley smile

I got my girls customized jean jackets with their names on it, and matching lounge wear. My girls LOVED it all because all 4 of them love jean jackets and like to be super comfy lol. They wear them all the time Smiley smile I was lucky enough to find something that we all had a common interest in. It was above my original budget, but my girls literally paid for EVERYTHING (minus Airbnb because I booked that) for my bachelorette trip. They paid for all the snacks, meals, my outfits, bride squad outfits, drinks, and so much more. (And they also helped a lot with my centerpieces, party favors, and other wedding stuff I needed to put together.) But for them to pay for the entire trip they really didn't have to, but they all insisted and even tried to snatch my wallet to leave it home before we left for our trip lol.

I opted out of the robe and pj option to get my girls because not all my girls wear that. I actually don't even use robes.

One thing you can do is cater their gift based on their individual interests. Smiley smile

Etsy also has a lot of cute bridesmaids gift ideas. Even Amazon! David's Bridal may have a Black Friday sale, but I'm not too sure.

I got it from Etsy! However, the shop I ordered from was a little too tight.. The reason being is because they combine sizes. For example, it showed S/M, L/XL, and plus. So, if they are a small they should be fine with S/M, but if they are a size M then I suggest to order a size up for L/XL. But again I would just read the reviews and make sure about the sizes. Smiley smile I was considering ordering them from David's Bridal because they sell them on there too, but I didn't want the heart design on it as well. It was still super cute! But I just wanted only their names on it.

ALSO!! The shop I ordered from has a TON of cute wedding stuff for brides and bridesmaids. I'll link the denim jacket below so you can check it out and then you can also check their shop Smiley smile And I will link the one from David's Bridal.
