Bridesmaid in a tux

Futuremrsconroy, on January 8, 2019 at 9:13 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
My bestie is very boyish and will not be wearing a dress (it would look odd on her), she doesn’t like public speaking so we opted for her to be a bridesmaid instead of MOH. Question, should her tux match the groomsmen or should we do something different? Guys will be in Navy with steel blue or blush ties, groom will be in a true blue tux, bridesmaids in steel blue dresses.

I'd have her in a steel blue tux. DH's bestie is non binary and does not wear dresses. They wore a charcoal gray suit and looked awesome.

I agree with MrsV, I think your best friend should wear the steel blue. That way she matches with your side of the wedding party (not that they need to, but I enjoy that sort of synchronicity.) You can find women's tuxs at places like TopShop, ASOS, or Sui Studio. They might not have the steel blue you're looking for, but those are good places to start. Smiley smile

Definitely try to find her something in the steel blue, even if it’s just the jacket. I second ASOS. I’ve seen some cute women’s tuxedos on there before.

Or perhaps give her the option to choose which of the colors she wants to wear? Either way she'll be matching and a part of the bridal party colors.

I did ask her she’s fine either way. She said a women’s suit may be too fitted.

I agree! Women’s suit will be fitted to her body in a way that I’m guessing she wants to avoid. I was browsing for bridesmaids dresses and came across a picture of this scenario. The person was on the Bride’s side wearing the same suit the groomsmen were wearing but in the bridesmaids colors. It looked really nice!

I’m having an issue finding the steel blue tux. We are renting all of the taxes from Men’s Wearhouse, my groom will be in a true blue colored tags, the groomsmen will all be in navy blue taxes, all the tires are steel blue, bridesmaids in steel blue. It’s almost like a dusty blue gray color. I wonder if I call Men’s Wearhouse if they could find something similar or carry something that isn’t on their website.i could put her in gray?! But, then I think she would just stick out instead of blending in. Maybe I put her in navy also but have her in just the pants and then a steel blue vest (no tie)?

Yes, I would try calling Men's Wearhouse or looking somewhere else. Maybe David's Bridal? I'm trying to figure this out for one of my bridesmaids too. I think our groomsmen will be doing Black Tux and their rep told me their smallest jacket size is 34XS and it fit a 5'2 colleague. They might have your color match.

If you can I'd do the vest and tie in steel blue! The same tux as the groomsmen, if she wants to wear a full tux.

You could also try Azazie for ties- they sell ties in all their dress colors. No vests, though.

Or maybe a local shop could dye a vest and tie to match the bridesmaid dresses?
