bridesmaid luncheon/cake pull

Renee, on January 26, 2013 at 4:52 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 6

Is anyone having a bridesmaids luncheon? what are you doing - where are you having it? when? I came across the idea of a cake pull / charm cake. It sounds really cute and different. I was thinking of having the bridesmaids luncheon the day before the wedding at my house (I will either cook or have it catered) and afterwards all get our nails done. Has anyone done the cake pull or have you seen it before?

I haven't goten that far down on my list to think about the details for my bridesmaids luncheon...but, in the south it is a tradition to do this before the big day or morning of. it is a light lunch and the cake pull is fun with each charm representing something for the bridesmaid that pulled it(luck, next to get married, etc).

I did a Bridesmaid Luncheon for my daughters Bridal Party. I did it in my home and made all of the food.

We started in the living room with Rose' Sangria and a platter of Italian Cured Meats, Cheeses and Olives.

Then up to the dining room for Endive Filled with Goats Cheese, Walnuts and Honey; Salad with Bay Shrimp; Baked Stuffed Salmon; Green Beans; Broiled Tomatoes and Peaches; Basmati Rice; Flourless Chocolate Hazelnut Torte.

I used the China and silver that belonged to my parents. It was a lot of fun.

I love the cake pull! One of my bridal parties used all their charms as necklaces on chains that the bride gave them. It was adorable.

It's a victorian/ southern tradition, where the bridal party pulls out the charms and each symbolizes something like next to get married, luck, etc. Now it's used for any occasion that a cake is involved (birthdays, sweet sixteens).
