Bridesmaid Proposal Box too cheap?

I will be getting married 8/18/18. I would like to send my "proposals" 8.18.17 and I'm on a budget. I will be getting married 8/18/18. I would like to send my "proposals" 8.18.17 and I'm on a budget. I was thinking of sending something creative like a balloon proposal where they would pop the balloon and inside it would be confetti and "will you be my bridesmaid". I have 11 bridesmaids so it would $134.30 total including shipping. Should I add something else in the box? After they pop them...its nothing else for them to keep. Is this idea too expensive for just a balloon? I was thinking about adding a personalized card and save the date cookie and popcorn as well but that's more money! I will be also giving each girl a box for the bachelorette party, and a thank you gift.

If you are on a tight budget do not spend the money on a proposal.

Also, GIRL. don't have your engagement party on Christmas Eve. That night is about family, not your wedding. No offense. I wouldn't come. On Christmas Eve I'm with my family and FH, nobody else

If I was invited to an engagement party on Christmas Eve I'd say no , you should know that's right next to a holiday people are spending time with their families and could be out of town . Not trying to be mean just being honest

@hannahdee I didn't say I hated them, I did them too. I LOVED doing it and my girls loved receiving them. I've just never seen a post about them be well received on here.

I like the balloon idea and I was thinking about doing that as well. I say go with what you feel will be memorable and unique for your BP. Lots of people have Christmas parties so I don't see the problem in an engagement party near Christmas. Good Luck

Lauren, don't call names. We don't hate here. We may not like ideas so we give our opinions.

I just sent a little booklet. The cover said "Will you be my BM" and the next couple pages had dates, location, etc. I wanted them to have as much info as possible before they committed. Mostly because being in a wedding costs a lot of money.

I went online and for a few bucks each for personalized wine bottle labels. They loves them.

I'm gonna have to disagree i think that idea is really cute, and i personally wouldn't really mind a confetti if it wasn't SUPER tiny.

But if you are worried about $$ , which i am also, so hopefully I have a similar mindset. I would feel more satisfied myself giving them $100 worth of items they can keep an continue to use.

I made boxes for them with a few small items, but the main gift was a tumbler cup i got on etsy (about $10 each) and it said "Time to drink champagne and dance on the table" on one side and their name on the other in our wedding colors. I wanted it to be something wedding related but i didn't want "bridesmaid" slapped across it so it could be something they would be more likely to use, and so that i felt i wasn't wasting my money, I figure they can take them to work, use them around the house, but also bring them to events, they all brought them to the engagement party and i hope we will be doing the same for the bachelorette.

Your bridal party should want to be in your party regardless if you ship them something or just call them, but I also felt the need to give them a proposal gift to get them excited for the wedding and have it feel a bit official.

Do whatever you think is best!

You can ask them whenever you want. I'm not getting married until September 2018 and I asked mine like a week after we got engaged which was in May! And I made personalised cards but I like your idea seems fun!

@mrsdamico I think we're on the same page. With each wedding I've been in I've received some type of will you be my bridesmaid..so I just expected I should do the same. It's so fun to me!

I bought cards from the Etsy shop "Finch and Hare." I thought they were hilarious, and it seemed to be a big hit. I think the amount of cards we needed was like $40-50.

I like some of the ideas you all are posting! Is it still a no to the December 23rd Tacky Christmas Engagement party though? B/c I'm really excited and the wedding is all the way next August

Thanks Christy! You're right 5 of my BM and I went to college together and some are out of state. 2 are cousins, 2 would be my sister in laws and 2 are childhood friends. I would hope*my college roommates are the same we talk via text everyday but people do change! I honestly haven't thought about that until this forum and now a rush of panic has come over me

I did the confetti balloons when asking my bridesmaids and loved them!! I also gave them each personalized boxes with goodies inside, but I admittedly went overboard Smiley smile

I've also been asked with a confetti popper which was super cute and a little cheaper than the balloons. It's a fun idea and if you want to do it and are ok spending money on it - then go for it!
