Bridesmaid Proposal Box too cheap?

I was thinking of sending something creative like a balloon proposal where they would pop the balloon and inside it would be confetti and "will you be my bridesmaid". I have 11 bridesmaids so it would $134.30 total including shipping. Should I add something else in the box? After they pop them...its nothing else for them to keep. Is this idea too expensive for just a balloon? I was thinking about adding a personalized card and save the date cookie and popcorn as well but that's more money! I will be also giving each girl a box for the bachelorette party, and a thank you gift.

I agree w/ a few ladies suggestion of writing a handwritten personal letter to each BM/MOH. I have seen where the bride wrote each person a note of how they meet, how that person is important to them and ask would they be in the wedding. Go to a dollar store get $1 blank cards or somewhere else for nice cards. place your nice heart felt short letter of request inside. That will be something they can keep. It's a thought and much cheaper.

Wow I had no idea there was such a thing as a bridesmaids proposal, but then again I know nothing about weddings cause I'm not a girly girl and never really wanted to have a wedding but that's not the story here. When I was ready to announce that we were actually having a wedding I just texted my friends and was like well I guess I'm having a wedding and you guys better be in it. But then again I have like 3 friends and that's it. It's a cute idea to send a proposal in the mail but I would definitely not send confetti. I have recently discovered wooden cards online and honestly they are the most awesome things ever. I sent my fiancé one for his birthday this week and he absolutely loved it. You could try looking at some websites for them and send those. They are different and last forever and super cute. The one I ordered from was from an online company called Heart Space Cards. But there are tons out there. Amazon sells them too. That's how I initially found the website I used.

If you're on a budget, all you have to do is ask them. I did

Stop letting people discourage you. You want 11 bridesmaids, have 11 bridesmaids. None of these people know you or your relationship with your bridesmaids! I have 10...they all said yes. I bought mini wine bottles, wrote a personal note in a cute card, bought individual bags of chocolate, and a candle...put all of that in a small container and decorated it. It was about $6-$7 a person. Also, people do need time to save money. No one knows people's financial situations. Ask when you want to! People will appreciate the extra time, and you will also have time to plan for if someone says no, or drops out.

Its not too soon to ask. I asked my girls ways over a year in advance to make sure. Plus I want to give them time to get their dresses since it will be custom made.

But i sent out cards with cute rhymes and cute hair ties (helping me tie the knot). So you can also add that. Dont over think it. And only do confetti if its going to be outside or somewhere for an easy clean up

I did these boxes for my girls. DIY.. Under 10 bucks per box. I included color swatches, a hand written note, little bottle of wine, and a ring pop. My bridal party loved them.

22 people in the BP..... that's over 50 at the RD, with so's and parents, probably at the MINIMUM 1500.00 in flowers for the day, and god knows how much in gifts.

    You're talking real bucks now.

When did being a guest stop being enough of an honor?

You could go on zazzle.com and find nice bridesmaids card/add your wedding color, gum etc grab pickup boxes at Michaels and ship them off! Otherwise just ask. With a party size that big I don't think I would spend money on bridesmaids boxes.

I agree with many pp. If you have a budget yet have 22 people in your bridal party your budgets out the window. A cheap bridesmaid bouquet is $25...that's almost $300 for bridesmaid flowers alone. Plus boutonnieres, bridal party gifts for 22, most people have an open bar for the bridal party, extra big transportation, even a ceremony space that 24 people can all fit standing in a row. That's gunna be sooo expensive but if they are all really important you should keep them in your no just know you'll be spending a loooot of money.

I am proposing to my 5 bridesmaids, and I'm doing it a year in an advance, too. I am giving them boxes with a mini champagne, a card, and a bath bomb. I like someone else's idea of a ring pop, so I might end up adding that, too.

I did the whole thing for less than $10/box. But I will have to ship 3 of the boxes, so I imagine those ones will be about $15/box with shipping.

Please, don't wait until January to ask your bridesmaids. Ask them in October or November so you can individually ask them about their budgets and such. If you wait until next year to ask, they may have vacations planned and whatnot. If someone asked me 8 months before their wedding to buy a dress, find shoes and who knows what else? I'd be mad. Especially one of my best friends.

End of the day, make sure it fits into your budget to ask these ladies, and same goes for your FH. Make sure you're both financially on the same page with the 22 people as BP members. That's quiteeee a bit.

I have 2 bridesmaids and a Jr. bridesmaid. I spent about $50 on my MOH and Bridesmaid. I spent $30 or so on my Jr. bridesmaid, as she will only be 14 when we get married. Check Etsy, I got my big ticket items there for about $10 each.

11 bridesmaids?? Wow! You're very lucky to have that many close friends who love you! <3 I asked my party already, and mine isn't until next Halloween! But they all live in other states and I wanted them to have ample time to save up. Proposing to them is sweet, but that cost may be a bit much. Maybe do the big balloon pop for your MOH and cards for the others? I sent each of mine a card with a really personal note, big gold confetti, and a pair of earrings I made them. Nothing too crazy, but it was meant to show the love <3 And that's the goal, right? Show your girlfriends how much they mean to you and how special it'd be too include them in your day <3

I asked my BM this way because there are 4 out of state! For those close by, I chose to do a small champagne bottle and glitter coated it, then tied the helium balloon with the little note inside that they'd find once they popped the balloon. I don't think it is necessary to make it a "gift" since you will likely get them a gift for being in the wedding anyways. I do agree though that this idea is NOT cheap when you have 11 BM...I have 10. Good luck!

I think it sounds like a great idea. And I don't think it's to soon to ask either. We are having a DW and I gave each lady a proposal in a bottle with sand & shells. They all loved it & thought it was special. I'm getting married in a year and asked about two weeks ago. They all are helping me come up with ideas. So do what you want, this is your wedding! congratulations!

What did you end up doing or deciding? I am getting married the week before you 8.10.18 yay!

But I agree with Rebecca! You do what you want and have as many bridemaids as you want. My fiance doesn't really like the idea of a bridal party or groomsmen, but after thinking about it I am going to have bridemaids even if he doesn't have groomsmen. To each their own.

I got some boxes from hobby lobby (.99) and put their names on it. I got the wine (5 bottles for $4) and used spray glue($2 at Walmart) & glitter (got from dollar store) to make the wine bottles fancy. I had some cookies made with their names (it was someone local so very inexpensive) all of the items were the colors of the wedding. I typed out a personal note for everyone and printed them for free at work! Everyone said yes. My sister in law is now pregnant so she’s the only one not participating now. Everything has been going great! I don’t regret asking them this way at all. And now since my SIL is not participating the wedding party is uneven and it use to bother me but now I could careless! Congrats to you! Don’t worry about it being uneven love!

Sounds like the boxes turned out great! Glad you were able to find a way to still do a "bridesmaid proposal"

Yes on the inside of the lid of the box it said “Will you be my bridesmaid?” So that’s the first thing they saw when they opened the box. I found a bunch of free printables online that said will you be my bridesmaid. I just cut it out and glued it
