Bridesmaid Proposal Boxes- how did you mail them?!

Ashley, on September 18, 2017 at 3:04 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 21

Hi everyone!

I have everything I need for my bridesmaid proposal boxes. Any thoughts on how I should box them up? Should I just buy boxes from the post office and then put the items inside with the packing paper?

Or should I buy a box from michaels or world market and then put the box inside the packing box through the post office?

I want them to look really pretty when they arrive and I don't want the items to shift too much in the box if that makes sense.

I also don't want to pay an arm and a leg for shipping, and if I have to send a box inside a box, that would be more expensive. (I would also have to decorate the box if I were to buy it from a craft store, and I was planning on sending them soon)

Attached is an inspiration photo! Thank you!!

Through a phone call. I don't know why these are even a thing. Too complicated, to much pressure to say yes.

I think this is why we see so many people drop out, because they felt pressured into saying yes.

You can use wrapping paper to stuff between the items so it won't shift. Aren't items priced to ship by weight? If you just get a box a little larger it will protect the outside of the box.

@OG Kathryn- well I already bought all the stuff so too late for that but thanksSmiley smile

They all know they're in the wedding because they were all at my engagement. I figured it'd be a nice gesture to send them a box with some nice items.

Do you have the option to give them to the people in person / or drop them off? I had the same dilemma and since I am only 30 minutes from everyone I decided to either give them in person or drop them off.

OK, I guess thats good. What are you asking them for "help" with?

@miranda that's true! I figured if I bought a box from a craft store and then put it in a box from the post office it would be fine but I think by adding a box from the craft store would add a significant amount of weight.

@christina unfortunately no :/ they live in another state. One bridesmaid lives close by so I'll hand deliver hers.

@ogkathryn Mostly how I should package them, so the items won't shift too much. If I should put the items in a craft box and put the craft box inside a box from the post office or if I should just put the items in the post office box itself.

    Kinda confusing, lol

No I meant your BM's. It says help me tie the knot, or just supposed to be cute.

I saved the extra gifts and special proposal type things for the actual wedding gift. For my proposal I just had a very pretty paper with a yarn knotted "ring" that said I can't tie the knot without you by my side will you be my bridesmaid. Then on the back it had duties and the color scheme. I am doing a personalized box for them on the day of now with little trinkets and wooden boxes I Woodburn ed myself wi th their names, favorite drinks, jewelry, etc.

I just mailed 2 of mine last week. I put the items in a cute box and then bought a 8x8 box from FedEx for $1.25, stuffed that box with paper and mailed it that way.

Duties like, have a great time and distract my mom from driving me crazy all day, be by my side to calm me down, party with me the night before, etc..

If you really want to send boxes use stuff like they use in easter baskets. Don't put anything too fragile. And a box in a box is cuter, and more special. The box is part of the appeal, I think anyways

I mailed my BMs a box filled with items thanking them for their friendship. Then I took these boxes to the post office and purchased a shipping box, bubble wrap and packing paper to use to wrap the box inside the shipping box. It was easy and didn't cost too much - maybe less than $60 total for shipping supplies and postage for 3 boxes.

I did these two. I found a box at Michaels for $0.40 to use.

Bride squad. And the postcard was where we were getting married, Lake Tahoe. And on the other side I wrote the dates of stuff down. They also had a tag that said their title that looked like a luggage tag that stated the colors and such.

So did you not pack the inside box with a lot of filler paper, etc? You just packed around the little box inside the bigger box, and it arrived okay? Asking because I am trying to figure this out too!t

Melody, what was the damage cost wise for shipping? Do you feel like it would’ve been cheaper to buy one on Etsy and let the person on Etsy ship?
