I recently got engaged and am planning to put together some bridesmaid proposal boxes for my bridesmaids. If you have had previous experience as a bridesmaid, or have any ideas of what you would find practical or cute to include, that would be super helpful. Thank you!!

*** For those just writing to tell me it's TOO EARLY TO ASK, don't bother. As I have responded to others, I am just PLANNING and do not have intentions to ask anytime soon. I don't even have a wedding date set yet so it doesn't make sense for me to ask without a concrete wedding date even set yet. My "wedding date" is just a date I set two years from now BUT IS NOT my wedding date. I am NOT asking for advice on WHEN to ask but for BRIDESMAID PROPOSAL IDEAS. Please be respectful and actually answer my question!

    And the inside.

I did a shot, a margarita bead candle and a ring pop.

I'm getting ready to send mine off now, but they each include a customized personal card, small bottle of champagne, a shot glass and the balloon with a pin to pop it. Each one cost me about $8.

We did a small bottle of champagne, some candy, and a card that I made that said , "It would be sweet if you would stand by my side." Then FW and I wrote notes on the backs of the cards and sent them. They were definitely a hit and didn't cost a bunch. It also allowed them to be gender neutral since we both have guys and girls

These are mine... I ordered them cookies in the colors of the wedding (or as close as I could get), a personalized tumbler and a candle that said "I can't say I do without you" and added a handwritten note.

My love language is gift giving (thank you, "The Five Love Languages" quiz!), so I definitely spent a bit more than I had to but it was important to me to give everyone something special. I bought each BM a personalized bracelet with the coordinates of a place that's special to both of us - so, it's kind of related to me/my wedding but they can also wear it and have it just represent a place special to them. For example, my college BFF is the coordinates of our school, my neighbor growing up was our neighborhood, etc. And then I got one for myself with the wedding venue coordinates - the place where all of my nearest and dearest will be together! I also included a handwritten note with each.

    ETA: note

I did BM boxes with a mini bottle of wine, make-up bag and a cute notebook! I also included a little insert (tons of inspo on Pinterest) with a little blurb about each of the other girls, our wedding colors, and the season/location we were planning for the wedding.

Wayyyy too early to ask, a lot can happen between now and then in relationships, finances, etc.

I'm a planner and OCD and love DIY crafts. I also knew for sure who I wanted to stand up with me. My BFF of the past 20 years and my sister. So I asked "early" because I knew it wasn't going to change. No one was at all offended, so I really feel the best time to ask someone is when you know for sure.

Making their boxes was FUN for me, and I loved putting everything together. Luckily the three of us have very similar tastes, so it was also easy to do.

The box was painted purple with their initial on the outside. Inside there was... candy ring, nail polish, necklace with their birthstone and initial, and a picture of the two of us in a little frame.

Nancy - I love your box!! And I really appreciate your comment about it never being too early to ask. There are two people I know I for sure want in my bridal party - and they already know they're going to be a part in it! - my sister and my best friend since second grade! I know some people think that bridesmaid proposal boxes aren't necessary, but I am just like you and love to do fun DIY crafts and love gift giving! Plus I think it would be a nice little something to give to the girls that are closest to me Smiley smile Thanks for sharing your pic - i love it!!

To answer MelissaHH's question, they get to keep these gifts even if they decline!! asking someone to be a BM should be about how close you are to them, not so much about having a certain number. If you want someone to be in your BP, you should ask them during the "first round" not b-list them in case someone says no.

As for the proposal ideas, I am making charm bracelets that have their initial, a charm that relates to somehting we bonded over or that they really like and a sparkly gem in my wedding color. One friend will get a mermaid charm because we used to watch this awful show about mermaids together, my sister is a big GOT fan so her charms will relate to that, etc.

Mine kind of feels a little half-assed lol, but it's a Swell water bottle in one of my colors (I'm putting their names on them in vinyl) and a bath bomb from my favorite local store that happens to go with the DW location.. kind of a hydrate and relax before we party in Mexico gift.

I hand wrote a card to everyone. It cost me $2 in cards from the dollar store and postage. I gave out robes with their monogram on too. I'll get them all a personal gift right before the wedding. Know that you aren't required to give out a box of stuff for them, it's a new trend that gets expensive

Stephanie - I know it isn't required and I know it can get expensive, but still something I want to do. Trendy or not, I would have gotten them gifts regardless as a token of my thanks. Of course when I say a box it could be a small box of little gifts that don't cost much. That's why I'm writing on here for ideas!!

Too cute for me. Just call them. If a girl says, "No" do they hand them back?

I got my boxes off of Etsy from a shop called Modparty - they are BEAUTIFUL and look really nice. Not too expensive either. Inside I included a mini bottle of wine, a stemless wineglass with each girls' name on it, a makeup bag, and a piece of jewelry personalized to each girl. (ie, one girl got her birthstone, one got a cat necklace because she loves cats, etc). I also included some fun hairties in the wedding colors with a card that says "to have and to hold your hair back".

@Joanne Good for you. I'm choosing to do something cute rather than a simple phone call.

I wrote a sentimental card and gave each girl one of these for something fun. They were sort of "champagne/prosecco" inspired.
