Bridesmaid "Proposal"

Danielle, on May 10, 2017 at 10:46 PM

Ok so I know the whole asking your bridesmaid in a cute way is the new "trendy" thing to do. I'm kinda torn on this, just wanted to hear everyone's thoughts did you/didn't you do it, if you did how did you?

I asked my girls on Snapchat. The ones who didn't have it I saved the video and sent it in a message. They all loved it. One of them that got a video message showed all her friends and told me it was the best part of their night.

I got my BMs a donut with a note that said "I donut want to get married without you. Will you be my bridesmaid?" Definitely didn't pressure them (I only spend $1 on each girl) and I still got to do something "cute." They all loved it.

I ordered pretty cards and wrote a long message about how much I appreciate my friendship with each of them.

They all cried! Better than a box of clutter if you ask me

While I think the proposal boxes are so cute! I think it puts a lot of pressure on the recipient to say yes. What if they are having money troubles and would prefer to just support you as a guest? You just never know.

I gave them each a little bag with some Lindt chocolate, a card, a $10 candle from target, nail polish, and a little pocket planner/pencil set from the $1 section (I wrote important dates in).

I casually asked each BM individually to make sure first and gave them the proposal box afterwards (also individually) so that no one would feel pressured. I specifically wanted to make them proposal boxes because this was each girl's first time being a BM and I just wanted to make it a little extra special.

I asked mine in person. No frills or card. I do plan on a nice gift for them though.

I bought a card for each and wrote a nice note inside and asked that way. Super cheap and they all loved how personal and sweet it was. I personally think those boxes are a waste (cute, but still a waste)

I bought frames and gift bags at the dollar store and printed the quote out! My sister (MOH) got a different one! - I invited everyone over for a wine and pizza night and gave them to them! We had a great night and it was so unexpected which I loved because I can't keep secrets!!! Lol

It's no longer trendy when it's all over Pinterest.

Do it if you want to.

@alana131 what do you mean you gave them a timeline of your shower and Bach??

IF they accept to be your BP THEY choose IF and when you get any pre wedding parties... That's really backwards and demanding to tell them when they are throwing you parties before even waiting to see if they can be in the BP at all. ETA: you asked an entire year too soon. I really hope it all works out for you... Brides with a list of demands from day one who ask their bridal parties way too early tend to come back with drama from girls not being excited enough, helpful enough, throwing parties enough, or just getting pissed about the endless wedding stuff.

I filled a balloon up with confetti and a piece of paper that said "I can't marry my mister without my sister, will you be my bridesmaid?" and then I attached a piece of paper to a string that said "Pop me" with a little safety pin.
