Bridesmaid "Proposal"

Ok so I know the whole asking your bridesmaid in a cute way is the new "trendy" thing to do. I'm kinda torn on this, just wanted to hear everyone's thoughts did you/didn't you do it, if you did how did you?

I plan on asking my friends with a cute card and small gift! Nothing crazy or over the top but maybe a nail polish in my wedding colors for them to use or a small gift bag with candy or homemade cookies in them or something. My mom makes all her own cards for holidays with her scrapbooking materials so she is helping me make small cards. I just think its a nice gesture since the BM and MOH will be spending money during the wedding process on both me (shower/bachelorette party) as well on things for the actual day (dress, shoes etc) IMO it shows you care and are committed to making this process enjoyable for them and not a slog

I asked with a cute box and tshirts glasses ring pops and I asked them over a year early so they can all save finance is a big thing and I didn't want them to struggle even though I'm making it as inexpensive as possible for them I wanted to be considerate so I don't think it's to early for you to ask

I just called my friends. I am not a fan of the bridesmaid proposals, but that might be because it isn't my personality at all. My friend who I'm MOH for sent me a card asking me to be her MOH and honestly I would have rather she just called me or asked me in person.

I hand painted wooden boxes, wrote a poem, and made a small picture collage, then filled it with goodies. It's not too flashy, and it's usable for them in the future. Smiley smile

    This is the outside-

All mine live at least a 14 hour car ride away! I called them and asked over the phone. The next week I mailed them cute luggage tags (since it's kind of a DW), a small calendar, and a handmade card. I needed something small I could mail without spending a ton on shipping!

Best of both worlds: no pressure on them and I got to do something cute.

ETA: I know I asked early but since my wedding is in my current town it's a destination wedding for literally everyone but FH and me. I wanted to give the girls some time to save up. Also I've been best friends with every girl since I was at least 8 years old.

Gymrat read my mind. There's nothing like handing a group of women a pretty box while simultaneously asking them to do something for you -- something that costs quite a bit of money and absorbs quite a bit of free time. Peer pressure -- it works in every decade of life.

Besides, and I mean no offense if you're doing it, but it just seems a little unsophisticated, IMO. Nobody needs a handful of dollar store things, no matter how nicely they're wrapped. I would far prefer to ask my friends individually, and then, after giving them a few weeks to think it over, thank those who accepted the invitation with dinner and drinks. But, that's me.

I hate bridesmaid proposals! I think they're just another way the industry has gotten people to spend their money.

    I just asked.

Also, I feel like gifts will make bm feel obligated to say yes which was my main issue with why I didn't go the route. I'm spending my money on thank you gifts at the end.
