Bridesmaid proposals quarantine style

Cherylin, on June 15, 2020 at 9:33 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 16
Anyone have any cute, or clever ways of asking bridesmaids to be in your bridal parry during social distancing? I have three of them who are currently out of state, so any ideas for asking them via long distance are welcomed as well!

Thank you! ❤️💍

There’s lots of options on Etsy you could have shipped direct to them! I sent bridesmaid/MOH candles Smiley smile

I planned a small girl’s night for the ones in state with proposal boxes. For the ones out of state, I just shipped them their boxes. Everyone recorded videos as they opened. Loved it!

I love it!! That’s totally what I want to do! But I am not sure everyone would feel comfortable during social distancing. Did you do it recently?

Maybe it would have been cuter if I opened it while FaceTiming her or something so she could see it live

I did it a couple weeks ago, kept it all under 10 people. I let everyone know that I was thinking of having a girls night and made sure everyone was comfortable with it prior to planning it so it worked out!

Awesome! I love it! I hope to be able to do it too. I was even thinking of doing it outside as well which would help too! Thank you for sharing, and congratulations on your engagement!

I mailed puzzles I bought on Zazzle to my bridesmaids. I had to cover the front of the box with paper.

My favorite as a BM or MOH, is no gifts, no surprises. Over the phone or in person, to be asked. Opening presents or surprises makes it hard saying no, even when you know you can't do it. Pressure. And it makes it less likely you will talk about the things that will make or break your decision. So things either keep coming up problems, or weeks or months after saying yes, you have to change to no. It becomes humiliating for the bride, and the person involved. That, and not asking too early is good. I learned the hard way, any time a bride asks with no specific date on the calendar, or place, that she will later pick the day your sister is getting married, or you have professional exams, and suddenly you are the one messing with the bride's date. So 9 months to a year at earliest, with a date and a place, and a willingness to talk dates, schedules, and what you have in mind, talk about it. Personally or by phone call. Most reasons for not doing it are schedule conflicts ( including pregnancy/no travel times, or moving, or school or job changes. Things you usually are not sure of until 9 months or less. And big money crunch times. And serious illness of a family member, or you or SO needing surgery, or someone closer lke brother, sister, parent marrying the same weekend. So make it close enough to know these things, and a discussion of expectations, and your friend or relative who says Yes, is more likely to still be with you come wedding day.

I had 9 bridesmaids and 8 were out of state. I sent them jewelry boxes in the mail with liquor shooters, nail polish, and hair ties with a card asking them to be my bridesmaids!

Thank you for such a thoughtful response! I totally can see how that intimate conversation can really benefit both parties long-term, especially during such a chaotic time right now. I definitely want to make sure that no one feels pressured and that they have the option of saying no. I feel like trends today put a lot of pressure on the bridesmaids to say yes. Thank you for your kind input!

That sounds so ideal! Especially since the majority of mine are here in California, I would want them to feel that special moment and the excitement that I feel and getting ready to ask them! Thank you for sharing!
