Bridesmaid shaves off all her hair

Yardiegirl, on May 11, 2012 at 10:34 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 71

Ok, so one of my bridesmaids just posted a picture on facebook that said "New Haircut". She has shaved off all her hair. It's not a pixie cut. It's a straight "Britney Spears going crazy Sinead O'Connor Natalie Portman" shaved off head.

Then she posts in my bridesmaid FB group that she did it. So, I just said...As long as it grows back into something cute and manageable by the fall, you can do whatever you want...

I also joked on her picture saying, "Seems like someone wants to wear their bridesmaid dress in the audience." lol

IMO, It's not cute on her at all

I know it's a little shallow. I also know you don't pick your bridesmaids based on what they look like. You pick them based on what they mean to you. However, it's just something that's a little annoying to think about months before my wedding.

I hope she lets it grow back and it grows back quickly at least to the point where she can get some weave or extensions cause this experiment is not cute at all

OMG. It sucks even more because you don't have any true reason to be upset as she did absolutely nothing wrong. But man, that's annoying!

I'm with Maggie- it may be annoying, but like you said, you can't dictate bridesmaids hair.

WHAT!! That is shocking!! Man I was thinking of cutting my hair back to short after my wedding but I'm my sister's maid of honour so I checked that she was okay with it first...seems polite to me.

Actually it might make it easier. Instead of her having to pay someone to do her hair. she can just buy a wig that will look awesome the whole day.

I would be pretty annoyed. My best friends wedding is in August, mine is in November. We both are dying to cut our hair but we both are going to wait until the weddings are over in case of an "experiment gone wrong" kind of like this situation. But once the weddings are over all bets are off, I don't want to have bad hair in hers and she doesn't want bad hair in mine Smiley smile

I hope her hair grows quick! But the question is she happy with it at least?

Soooo I had this problem, and everyone made it seem like I was being rude! Saying that it was her hair and what does that have to do with anything involving my wedding. I totally agree with you on this one....I was beyond PO'd ( still is a little bit everytime she comes around) But just don't think about it and this annoying feeling will pass....I shoved it to the back of my mind and put that energy into something else. I will deal with her and her "choice" in July Smiley smileSmiley smile

    Good Luck

It wouldn't be so bad if she wasn't 5 foot 10 inches tall and very conspicuous.

Just one more thing I guess...but I guess we'll have to go wig shopping...

Why does it matter if she's bald or not? Do all your bridesmaids have to look identical? My best friend lost her hair during her chemo treatments, I knew her being bald in my wedding was a possibility and it didn't bother me one bit. If she wanted to go bald or wear a wig, it didn't matter... the fact that she still wanted to be in my wedding was amazing in itself.

If your bridesmaid wears the dress, shoes and accessories you want, why does her hair matter?

WOW it is nuts that she'd do that. I mean i don't know if it'll be managable by the fall, it could be cute though....

Ok being sick and having chemo treatments is TOTALLY different and not controllable.

I said, it's just annoying...that's all...because I was envisioning a certain look for my bridal party and an intentionally 5' 10" bald woman wasn't apart of it...

I mean it's her decision because it's her hair....however, if your bridesmaid for example put a huge tattoo of a devil on half of her face and that's not how you envisioned your wedding party...I think you might have a bit of a problem with it...even if she was wearing the dress...I'm just saying...it's not a huge problem...just annoying

Regardless of how different you think it is, I still ask.... WHY does it matter?!

Bald, devil tattooed on her face.... whatever, who flippin cares? The whole point of your wedding is to celebrate your marriage! Not to nit pick over what your bridal party looks like.

Regardless of if it's "controlled" or not, who cares!? My friend could have chosen to wear a wig or rock the baldness, it would not have matter. Maybe people at our wedding would not have known her situation and thought she just wanted to be bald, it still would not have mattered.

At the end of the day you need to focus on the big picture. You will look beautiful, your husband will look handsome and you two will be married. That's all that matters.

I would be secretly annoyed but I wouldn't actually say anything. No one's life decisions are going to be based around our weddings, even when we'd like them to be a little bit. Smiley winking

If I didn't want to have pics with a wedding party in certain dresses with a certain type of look...I would not have had a wedding party at all...

    I said it's annoying

dude, I'm not arguing with you...we'll just agree to disagree

I didn't say anything to mine either, but one of my girls did a Rihanna half her head shaved look a few weeks ago and I have a month to my wedding. Obviously I can't say anything, but I mentioned when I got engaged in Dec 2010 that I was hoping for their hair to be down with a pretty flower in it because they all had long hair at the time. She herself even told me she wouldn't do anything drastic until after and now this. Of course, my annoyance could be springing from the fact that every time I talk to her she has to mention what a waste of money weddings are and she told me yesterday she can't fit in her dress bc she bought a size smaller despite everyone warning her not to. *sigh* I can't complain too much because really those are minor things compared to most of the stories I've heard. It's just a tad annoying.

I'm assuming you asked her to be a bridesmaid because she was your friend and close to you, not because she had nice hair...? I guess I just don't understand why it's such a big deal. My sister (and maid of honor) dyed her hair blond with navy blue underneath and I don't care. AT ALL. I wouldn't mind if one of my bridesmaids got a tattoo either. I understand being secretly a little irritated, but I think your comment about her wearing her bridesmaid dress in the audience was a little rude.

I am one of those who really doesn't care if my BM's get their hair cut. In fact, my best friend and BM did get her hair cut super short (last time I saw her it was shoulder length) just before the wedding and it didn't matter a bit. After all, it's just hair--and not a giant tattoo of a devil on her face. Smiley winking

It was a joke...and she knew that because she laughed on FB and on the phone with me later.

I guess nothing anyone does ever annoys or bothers you saints. Sheesh! I just came on to vent a wedding annoyance...Unlike a lot of people, I'm honest and human about my feelings even if they may be shallow...because it happens sometimes

I didn't say I was ousting her from my bridal party or I didn't want her to be in it anymore. I just said it annoyed me because it messed up my vision of my bridal party. Her hair may grow back into a cute cut...she might decide to keep the shaved head...I dunno, that's on her...it was just a surprise to me after we spoke and voted on how they would look...that's all

it's ok to be human sometimes
