Sorry if someone else already posted this. I just came across this on Yahoo and found it super fitting. https://www.yahoo.com/style/why-i-quit-my-bridesmaid-duties-i-was-surprised-101707010188.html

I read that article. I get where the BM was coming from but I also thought she was a complete bitch. Sounds like they were both better off.

Yikes! I definitely think she should've been up front to begin with and politely decline. I agree with many other posters though about letting the bride know up front if there may be a challenge. If girls are looking at dresses or whatever maybe let the bride know hey I have this budget to work with. I wouldn't have been offended, I would've made sure we were doing something to work with that. I want my girls to have a great time and be happy/excited to be in the wedding come that day. Certainly not dreading it!

FH brother was in the wedding, but since mother is crazy and now not coming neither his is brother, which has left our side uneven. If one of my girls stepped down I wouldn't be that upset because things would be back to even :ox I guess that's my confession of the day.

One of my bridesmaids was in another wedding about two months before mine. She was even more caught off guard then the girl in the article because she didn't even expect to be INVITED to the wedding let alone be apart of it.

The girl asked her to be part of the wedding in one of those bridesmaid proposal settings. All of the girls were getting brunch and the bride sprung it on them. My friend felt awkward because what was she going to say? I also "asked" my girls all together at a brunch but I talked to them each individually before and gave them the chance to tell me no.

And then she wore black to the wedding???

Just kidding. But seriously she should have said no in the first place. That bride was obviously crazy but when it is actually a close friend of yours you can put up with a little bit more crazy than you normally would.

And this is why my girls picked their own dresses. Dark reds and knee length....that's all I specified. I think they paid anywhere from $20-$100, depending on what they liked

I have 5 or 6 dresses that I like that are the same length, color and fabric. Once I decide for sure which color I want to go with I'm just going to have the girls pick from those. The dresses are at different price points within the budget they said they were comfortable working with. Plus weddintonway offered $15 off per dress which helps out too.
